Chapter 17

The look on Princess Justice's face had spooked him quite a bit.

She had a killer look on her face and it really did hurt him to see her like this.

It also looked like she was seeing everyone for the first time again. Like it was something she didn't want to do. Or was meant to do.

He realised something else. She was still the same. Her power was still there. The buttery was not hidden in the blindfold.

He also understood how her Akuma works. She's based on the real Lady Justice and she wore a blindfold so that she could make a fair judgment. That's why Marinette went by Princess instead and had a blindfold as well.

Now that she could see, it's like the fair judgment is leaving her and she seems to be making her own judgment based on how she sees it. Not based on the scales which also help with the judgments.

He couldn't think of anywhere else that the Akuma could be either!

Princess Justice on the other hand was livid. It was written on her face. She could feel the black stained tears roll down her cheeks but she ignored them.

Her breathing accelerated the angrier she felt.

"Why could you just not stay away! Leave me to do what I must do!" She growled, swinging her sword at Chat Noir's though she seemed to be swinging aimlessly she was close to hurting him.

"I cannot let you. I won't risk you murdering someone! I can't!"

She let out a strangled and frustrated cry before she disappeared and appeared behind him, kicking him in the back causing him to roll over.

"It's just as well" she snarled. "You just so happen to have something that I want"

Queen Bee and Carapace felt useless. They had to watch Chat Noir try to battle their friend on his own.

"Damn I feel useless" Carapace groaned.

"You and me both." Queen Bee responded

"I can't believe the Akuma wasn't in her blindfold! There isn't anywhere else it could be!"

Chloe looked deep in thought. Her eyes narrowed, went back to normal, narrowed again and then widened at a story Marinette had told her last year over one of their facetime calls

Flashback

"So let me get this straight, one of the Ladybugs during the ancient era was influenced by darkness once?"

"Yeah..." Marinette flipped a page in the book Master Fu had given her. "It had gotten really bad. Turns out the darkness was in her heart."

"So what happened to her?"

"Marinette read the next few lines and her heart sank a little. "Some of this is going to sound a bit cheesy though. Like it's out of a Disney movie. But the only way to save her would be been through true love's kiss"

Chloe raised a brow. "Oh...well, who was her lover if she had one?"

"That's the thing Chlo, her lover was killed during a war between some other country. When the news got to her, she lost it"

"So...what happened then?" Chloe asked.

"She...she had to be put down"

"As in...killed?"

Marinette nodded sadly. "Yeah. The person she loved who also loved her back was dead. There was no saving her. They had no choice but to kill her because she had already killed 12 people during her outrage and injured 53."
