Chapter 9

"Hey, Marinette. Felix" Nino felt nervous. As he should.

"Hi, Nino" Marinette greeted back softly. Felix just nodded his head in greeting, keeping his eyes on the guy so that the minute anything was out of line, he'd step in.

"Well, you wanted to talk?" Marinette said, gesturing for Nino to sit on her desk chair while she and Felix sat in the chaise.

"Uh, y-yeah. I wanted to apologise"

The pair both rose their brows in shock.

"Y-you do?" Marinette asked.

"Yeah," Nino rubbed the back of his neck. "I've been a dick the last few years. I haven't been the friend I should have been. I should have been there for you."

'Damn right' Felix thought to himself.

"What brought this on?"

Nino let out a breath and began to explain everything. From his suspicions that he has recently had and how he mainly stayed with them to see what else Lila was spewing and to Alya breaking up with him this morning.

"wow..." Marinette gasped.

"Yeah..." Nino took off his cap and ran his hand through his hair. "I know it's a lot. I'm not expecting you to forgive me or be my friend or whatever. but I just wanted you to know that I'm not on Lila's side. I do still want to be there for you...if you'll let me." He looked hopeful. Marinette could tell. He also seemed pretty genuine to her. She looked at Felix who was still looking at Felix but his facial expression seemed to be a bit more relaxed than before.

Marinette bit her lip as she considered this. she missed Nino. She really did. But it did hurt her when he stuck by the others' side while she practically suffered. Sure he never did anything or say anything to her, in her face that is, but the fact he did nothing to help hurt a lot.

She remembered telling Chloe about it on facetime once and she wasn't happy to know that someone who they've known since they were in Nursery, wasn't by her side when she needed it.

But...Marinette being the girl she is, felt like she should give Nino another chance. He had come to his own senses and came to her on his own to apologise. And she appreciated that.

"We can start anew Nino" she finally said.

Both boys looked shocked by her response.

"W-w-wait. for real? You...forgive me?" Nino asked

Marinette smiled and nodded. "I'm prepared to give you a second chance Nino. I'm willing to start our friendship on a fresh page. As long as you promise to never betray me again.

Nino got up and hugged his friend, holding himself back from possibly crying. "Trust me dudette, it will never happen again. Shit, you have no idea how bad I felt."

Marinette chuckled softly and rubbed her Morrocan friend's back soothingly. "Glad to hear it, Nino"

Felix watched the exchange, annoyed at the twisted feeling in his chest as he did. He let out a silent breath that he didn't know he was holding out when the two broke apart from their hug.

"How about, to seal this reforming of our friendship," Marinette began as she went into one of her draws and took out three Wii controllers. "We can play a game. You up to play Mario Kart again Felix?"

"Felix plays video games?" Nino asked.

"Not really," Felix confirmed. "But I will admit that I am quite the expert at the game" he accepted the remote Marinette handed him.

"Damn really? you don't seem the type. well, from what I've heard" Nino said, also taking a remote from marinette.

"I assume my cousin has told you some things about me?" Nino nodded.

"Well, you should not listen to everything that idiot says. He may be smart in different ways but the majority of what comes out of his mouth is stupid"

Nino's brows rose in amusement. "Aren't you guys family?"

"Unfortunately" he sighed. "But I'd rather believe that we were not. His values are beyond me"

"Huh?"

"Basically, Felix ended up disliking Adrien even more than he did ever since he found out about the 'high road' advice he gave me when Lila came back"

High road advice?" Nino questioned as he picked a character. He went for Bowser.

"Yeah. He's known Lila has been lying about everything since the beginning! He thinks it isn't hurting anyone and that I should just keep quiet. He even had the nerve to say we're in this together. That's really funny if you ask me"

Nino frowned but kept his eyes on the race. "He knew? The whole time and didn't think it would be smart to tell us?"

"I don't think taking the 'smart road' is something Adrien knows how to do," Felix said.

Nino felt annoyed by that. to think that his best friend would hide such a thing from him. He knew! he flipping knew! There was a time a few months ago where Nino was suspicious of the bruises on Lila's leg and asked Adrien what he thinks. He said that Marinette obviously has it in for Lila for some unknown reason!

"What an ass!"

"Agreed." Both Marinette and Felix chuckled.
