"Members of The Popsicles leaving a restaurant in New York with three mysterious men." I nearly choked on my breakfast when I saw the title of a random article that popped up on my explore page. Mysterious men? I had to laugh. It was clearly a clickbait yet I wanted to know what they had written about us. "Photos included in the article." Great, that's what I was hoping for. I clicked on it and a big picture of our group leaving The Golden Years. I looked kinda okay. Only my forehead was reflecting light like a mirrorball. It looked like I had a third eye. I had to admit it was funny. The whole look of the photo was stunning. We looked exceptional like a power group.
I always got that feeling when I saw our band photos because each of us has a different style and a different aesthetic. I liked that about us. Different but still going strong. This was even the theme of our first ever song 'Better Than Ever'.
When I scrolled down I saw a not so long section with text. The author explained who our "mysterious" men were. He found out they were our classmates except for Harrison. I saw he did a bit of research on him. He found out his connection to me through Liz and that he will be starring in an upcoming Netflix show with me. The article ended with a comment on our relationship status and if any one of us is dating each other. I was expecting this. You cannot have male friends in your life. I found more photos under the text section. They had comments under them. One in particular caught my eye. It was a photo focused on Harrison and I laughing with a hilarious caption 'New celebrity couple in Hollywood? We are seeing sparks flying around the main stars of an upcoming Netflix series.' Sparks? More like a light that my mirrorball of a forehead reflected. I sent the link to Harrison and my bandmates with a selection of laughing emojis.
Next thing I did was to go on Instagram to see some news. The thing that fans did not know about was that I had a secret fan account. It gave me the space to connect with fans more and to know what their opinions are about our music. I found a lot of great memes, edits and super talented fans. I knew all about the inside jokes in fandom and I loved seeing our fan's faces and reactions when I mentioned something like this during a concert or an interview. It made them suspect me for having a private account nevertheless they never found out which one was mine and I enjoyed seeing them in chaos and panic. Our fandom was full of chaos and I loved it. It perfectly reflected our own chaos energy as a band.
I saw some photos of us from yesterday on an update account. People were commenting nice and comforting things. Some people said our fandom was toxic. I've never interacted or seen anyone being toxic although there is always someone wicked in every fandom and the real fans know the boundaries as well as how to behave.
"I may have found a record label that would be perfect for us." Lilybeth, our manager, started our business phone call on a good note. We have been looking for a suitable label even before we left our previous one. We wanted to be independent in the music making process, try to experiment more and explore more music genres. We've already found a new manager Lilybeth Thomas. She is amazing and is like an angel helping us to make our own way through the music industry. "I don't know if any of you have heard about Mom+Pop Music, however I was in contact with them and they seem like the perfect match for you."
"I read about them a few days ago. They are based in New York so that would be a big plus for us, too." Suggested Veronica. She always knew everything important for our work. I haven't heard of this label and the others seemed to be lost just as I was. Lilybeth explained more details and said she could set up a meeting with someone from there."
"Could you send us all the information via mail, please? We would discuss it together in private and decide on our next move. Although it seems legit to me." Added Harriet in a leader's voice. We all agreed with her as always.
"Amazing. Sorry for bothering you on Sunday but this was a big thing and I couldn't wait to tell you. See you soon. Bye." Lilybeth logged out and we started discussing our possibilities.
