"hey, i'm getting some snacks, you guys want any?" i asked cherry and marcia.

"no thanks, we're gonna have lunch with randy and bob." cherry informed me.

"whatever." i said.

i disliked bob, randy just depends on the day really. the horrible stench of gasoline sunk into my nose where i tried my best not to gag, i opened the door to the dx to see sodapop being hit on by a bunch of other soc girls that really think they're all that. i haven't seen sodapop since last year, all i know is that his parents are dead and that he's a dropout.

"you girls gotta go, i've got some work to do." soda let the girls off.

"see ya sodapop!"

"bye soda."

i shook my head and went off into the aisles, suddenly a bursted smile startled me.

"y/n! how are you?" soda then pulled me into a tight hug.

"great, soda." i replied, dusting whatever he may have left on me.

"it's been like forever, how come i don't see you at our house anymore?" soda asks, wiping his dirty hands on my pants.

"oh just busy." i shrugged, knowing that was all a lie.

"well, ya think you can stop by on the weekends? everyone including ponyboy misses you." he nudged my arm.

"maybe." i nodded before walking out.

i ended up not getting anything but the worst stress from not knowing whether or not i should stop by the curtis, maybe soda misses my presence but there's of course the rest of the gang who might wish that i was dead. two-bit for god's sake kept giving me the side-eye every time we both happen to be in the hallway together, even when i'm close to the bathroom it's like he's just staring from behind.

my feet wandered through the streets towards the border that separates the two social classes, nearing myself to the west until a familiar new york accent caught my attention from behind.

"hey, doll! over here!" he called out, i took a deep breath before turning around.

"hey dal." i acted all kind. "great seeing you here. you too, johnnycakes, i mean it."

"see, told ya she still wants to be friends." dally bragged to johnny.

"wasn't even thinking about you, dally." i rolled my eyes.

"everybody thinks about dal, come on now." he smirked.

"yeah, like your criminal records." i fought back.

"screw you." dally snarled before walking off.

"they still hate me?" i turned to johnny.

"not all, you definitely got one of your answers." he gestured at dally, i nodded. "can we talk?"

i nodded once again and had johnny walking by my side, behind us was the curtis' residence which i had completely forgotten about after not having a single recent visit, now does not count of course.

"why'd you leave?" he first questioned.

"johnny, you know i can't answer that." i gave him that sigh.

"come on, y/n, you practically changed." he pointed out. "we don't see or hear you around, you didn't say go-"

"i gotta get going, johnny, i'll see you at school." i lied, quickly walking off.

johnny was right, i changed, but who was he to think? i'm in denial, who am i kidding?
