tonight was the night all students of will rogers got to dress up in fancy clothing, heels and dresse shoes, everything. darry handed me a suit of his from when he went to his homecoming during freshmen year, soda's was a bit too small and darry's pants hung low on my hips. that's when you know, you're the actual medium sized baby of the family.

"hey two, why can't you and steve tag along at homecoming?" i asked, fixing my bow.

"steve was blamed for spiking the punch, he actually did and got banned." two-bit explained. "i can't go because i got caught trying to light up a cigarette, mrs. nudges snitched on me to principal byers."

"oh." i simply say. "how about you, johnnycakes?"

"glad you asked, the soc girl, olivia, asked me to the dance." johnny smirked.

"looks like someone's getting the girls." two-bit joked. "you got a date, pone?"

"no, neither does y/n but i could ask her for a dance if i find her on her lonesome." i shrugged.

"attaboy!" soda ruffled my natural hair.

i push him off of me and headed back to my room to add in some grease to my hair. darry walked in with a vintage camera my parents once owned from when us curtis brothers used to take baths, now that's when you know it was a really long time ago. i turn my head over to him with a shocked face, he snapped a photo with an evil grin, adding that devious chuckle at the end.

"alright, do your last minute prep and get in the damn car, i've gotta take soda and steve to the movie theaters so they could meet up with their girls." darry notified me.

"got it." i readjusted my bow tie before grabbing my blazer and heading out.

soda had beaten me to shotgun which left me stuck in the backseat with steve, not that i was upset but who would really want to be stuck in the backseat with steve? darry started off to my high school where a bunch of greasers were all dressed up with their date. hell, even angela was dressed up with bobby schroeder next to her.

"look, there's y/n!" soda pointed, rolling down the window with a huge smile. "hi, y/n!"

"oh hey, soda!" she walked up to darry's truck.

y/n looked gorgeous with her white dress, the lace trims at the bottom of her dress. i walked out of the car to go meet up with y/n who i assumed had no date to the dance, steve and soda kept imitating kissing noises at us but darry shushed them both. y/n shot me a smile as she walked up the stairs with me, shoulder to shoulder.

"dateless?" she giggles.

"you know it." i acted like the man.

"well so am i." she added.
