soda and i leaned against the windowsill as a bored puppy, we carefully studied each droplet of the rain against the window, soda was saying that they reminded him of when sandy and him once watched the rain at 3 in the morning. the rain to me is almost as similar as that, i remember waking y/n up at 3 am just to see the sunrise by the hills, sometimes we watch it under the rain where she's buried under my coat for warmth.

darry was in his bedroom getting some rest since his shift was called off due to the storm, some cars drive down the street but i've only seen 5 so far, soda had already given up on the drops and sat back down. i did the same only when there was a bike strolling down the pavement with their bell ringing, i looked up at the window to see y/n getting off her bike and running over to my porch.

"who is it?" soda asks with his head back.

"y/n." i replied while running to the door.

"pony," she started, out of breath. "i need to talk to you."

"not out there you're not." i said.

"no, not inside, i need to talk to you outside and privately." she glared at soda who sadly walked away.

i ran into the closet to find where my coat was, darry had all my stuff somewhere, so i grabbed the closest thing to a raincoat; my leather jacket. y/n was standing there in the cold, just shivering in the middle of my driveway with slight tears falling down.

i followed out where she brung us to the park, forgetting her bike in the middle of the pavement in front of my house. i had to drag us under a tree where the rain couldn't really fall on us from there.

"ponyboy, i'm sorry!" she yelled through the rain. "you're right, i am a bitch, and all i do is think about myself!"

"y/n, you know i didn't mean that." i said softly.

"ponyboy, stop lying to me! just say you forgive me." she pleaded.

"of course i forgive you, now would you tell me what's going on?!" i practically yelled.

"curly asked me to the dance!" she said out of the blue, making my heart drop. "i already said yes but i know you wouldn't be happy about it, i can't just drop him now!"

"y/n, i'm not mad, if you want to go out with him you can." i reassured her.

"you sure?" she asks.

"always." i faked a smile.

"pinky promise?" she held out her pink.

"pinky promise." i intertwined my pinky with hers.
