Ch 14 - It's Just a Small Gathering

“Hayley!  What on earth happened to you?!”  My mother shouted like I was soaked in blood rather than simply soaked in water.

I laughed at how much she worried as I rang out my hair with a towel Holden had for some strange reason had in his back seat and given to me.

“I fell into a lake.  You know me, always the clumsy one.”  I said like it was no big deal and before she could ask more Nola came running towards me making sure all my attention went to her as I bent down to pat her on the head.

My mom seemed to give up as she walked back into the kitchen to finish making dinner.

“Hun are you staying for dinner?”  She asked and I was about to answer with a yes when my phone started buzzing from my crossover Coach purse.

Oh, and luckily we left BOTH of our phones in my purse in a locker before getting into the paddle boats.  Losing my phone would be absolutely devastating.

I pulled out my phone from the front pocket and saw I had three texts from Ava.

Ava(best captain eva!)

Hayley!!!! why did you leave last night?  Are u ok?  And OMG I have to fill you in about my dbag ex

Ava(best captain eva!)

You know who I absolutely hate?  My brother!  He’s so ugh! And ew Cheyanne.  Do you have standards?!

I laughed at this one.  If she only knew about Paige.

Ava(best captain eva!)

Sooooo when you get all these lovely messages give me a call.  I have to fill ya in about what we’re doing tonight and you need to come ova!  Like now, our housekeeper is making strawberry smoothies and 1 has your name on it!

I laughed at the last part and started heading upstairs to the privacy of my room with Nola hot on my heels.

“Hayley dinner?!”  My mom called to me once again.

“Umm I’ll let you know!”  I shouted back as I reached my bedroom door.

Once I had shut the door, jumped on my bed, and had Nola cuddled up to me I called Ava.

She picked up on the second ring.  “You little bitch!  I thought you died.  Do you realize its 4:47 in the afternoon?  AND not to mention you literally went missing halfway through the party.  I thought you may have been kidnapped!”  Ava said and I could hear concern laced in her voice.

“Sorry I just wasn't feeling well.  I can’t keep up with you when it comes to drinking.”  I know I lied but, I wasn't sure if telling Ava about Holden was the best idea.  I didn't know her that well and I didn't want her judging me.  Not saying she would but, I don’t know.  I don’t know her that well.

But, I guess in all realities I really couldn't keep up with her drinking abilities.

Ava let out a loud laugh and I could see her throwing her head back letting her dark hair fly everywhere like a super model posing for a magazine cover.  Yes, she was one of those flawless people.

“Most people can’t darling! Oh but, you might want to try and keep up because you’re going to be drinking again tonight!”  Ava said like it was no big deal and I leaned back in my bed petting Nola who looked up at me confused.
