Chapter 19: The Day After

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Beep! Beep_

"Oh my god!" I groaned as I leaned over to my side and reached out to turn off the alarm clock sitting on the night stand.

After a few good pumps of my fist on the plastic monstrosity it finally turned off and I sighed in relaxation as I let my body slump further down into the silk navy blue bed sheets.

Wait?! I don't have silk bed sheets, or an alarm clock!

I jolted up right and instantly regretted it as I held onto my now pounding head.

Bad idea!

I looked down expecting to see Ava's crewneck covering me but, instead I was wearing a plain white v-neck and boy's boxers?!

After analyzing my recent and non-recollected change in wardrobe I looked around the room and to my sad dismay I knew exactly where I was.

From the various sports awards to the patriots football team poster I knew I was in Holden Kane's bedroom.

In Holden Kane's bed!

I leaned back contemplating what had happened last night but, the last thing I remember is sitting in the Calleja's theater room.

How did I get here and more importantly what did I do here?

After much deliberation and protest from my pounding head I sat up looking around the floor on his bedroom.

I just needed two things before I left and that would be my phone and my house keys. And I guess a pair of shoes would be nice but, I could easily make a break for it on barefoot back to my home. After all I'm only a street over.

But, as I looked around I realized that everything I needed wasn't in sight.

This is terrible!

Okay, new plan I'll just forget about my phone and hope my front door is unlocked when I get home but, then again what would my parents think if I showed up at 9:35 in the morning in boy's boxers?

Dammit!

And more importantly it is a Sunday morning. Why does Holden have to be up so early on a Sunday anyways?

I threw the comforter off of me and stood up thanking the lord that I didn't feel nauseous from last night.

After all I drank a lot and broke one of the cardinal rules of drinking. Don't mix alcoholic beverages.

As I nervously looked around for a plan B a delicious smell filled my nostrils coming from downstairs.

It smelled like someone was cooking bacon and eggs.

Oh my god what if Holden's parents are home? That would be so embarrassing! I could just see it now, me walking downstairs trying to make a speedy exit only to be greeted by the whole Kane clan.

Then again what was my other option? Sitting up in Holden's room waiting for him to come check in on me, like some pathetic sad drunk girl.

No way! I guess I was just going to have to make a break for it and pray I didn't get caught.

Without thinking twice about my appearance or the fact that I was going to run home with no shoes I threw open Holden's bedroom door and made my way down the staircase that I recall walking up just two nights ago when I went up to Holden's room at his party.
