“Now I want everyone on their best behavior.  Everyone be polite.  Hayley, Ashley, no bickering.”  My dad lectured as we drove down a street that seemed unfamiliar to me.  Yes, it had been a while since I had been back in North Harbor but, I don’t remember even being in this area.

“Bickering?  Dad you must know we keep our bickering as a private matter.”  I joked and my dad shot me a look from the rear view mirror as Ashley giggled.

“I’m being serious you two.  This is a very big deal for me and for us.  This job is going to give us a lot more money.”  My dad said in his very serious tone and I decided not to respond along with the rest of the car.

My mother was too busy reapplying foundation to make any small talk to begin with and Ashley seemed very uninterested as she played a game on her phone.

I continued to look out the window when I saw a large black gate come into view with a crested gold C stamped right in the middle.

My dad slowly pulled the Lexus up to the gate and I looked over at Ashley who was now looking at me just as confused.

“They have a gate to get into their home?”  I asked no one in particular as my dad typed in a code that made the gate doors slowly open from the inside.

“Cool.”  Ashley said out loud and my dad chuckled.  I guess I could see what he means by a lot more money.

As we drove in my eyes set on an extremely large Victorian style mansion with a fountain in the middle of a circular driveway.

“How quaint.”  My mom stated but, it sounded more like a question as my dad pulled the car up in front of the house and behind a red BMW sports car.

He put the car in park and I noticed that he nervously stepped out of the car.

If my dad was nervous you knew it was a big deal.

Me and Ashley got out next followed by my mother who smoothed down a very nice collared navy blue dress.  If I must say my mom definitely knew how to accessorize

"Why are we having dinner at a hotel?"  Ashley whispered to me and a stifled a laugh as we walked up to the large marble double doors.

Before my father could even ring the doorbell the double doors were opened by an older looking gentlemen in a suit.

"You must be the Monahans.  Come in."  The man said in a very proper tone holding the door open for us as we all slowly walked in trying to not gawk too much at the beautifully designed walk in area that I was assuming was a ballroom.

Well I guess that's what you would call it.

I mean do people even have ballrooms anymore?

God this would be a great place to throw a party.  I smirked to myself looking around the large open area and then I felt my father grab my arm practically pulling me forward.

Oh right they were still walking.

I had noticed when my dad had snapped me back to reality that the man that had opened the door for us was still talking and had just said that he was taking us to the dining room.

I wonder how many minutes it would take for us to get there?  This place was huge and in my opinion completely unnecessary.  Even if these people had 25 kids this place would still be considered big.

The man stopped and then opened another set of white doulble doors to reveal yet another large room with a long retectular table in the center with a great window view of what looked like a very flourished backyard with a_is that a tennis court?!
