Fifteen was not a special birthday, not by any means. Romina still had two years until she was of age. She had just one year to decide if this life, the one she was basically bred for, was really for her. So, on Saturday, the fourteenth of February, Romina found herself currently sipping on her goblet of pumpkin juice at the Slytherin table in the Great Hall. She thought she had done a fairly good job at ignoring the obnoxious couples around her wishing each other a happy valentine's day but with each passing moment she could feel her resolve weakening.

The only reason she was even sitting in the Great Hall was because there was a quidditch game. Gryffindor versus Slytherin. She was waiting patiently for the boys to join her for their pregame meal.

Without so much as a whisper, Avery dropped a black rose onto her plate, hovering behind her with a smug grin on his lips.

"Happy birthday, love." He told her, soon finding himself seated beside the girl. He knew she was saving that spot for Regulus – those two were thick as thieves. Avery had done what was needed to beat the younger boy to the Great Hall so he could spend the time with Romina without Regulus being there. They were both on the quidditch team, and Avery was already in his uniform. It was pristine – crisp and clean but ready to get dirty. Especially against Gryffindor. Romina knew the boys enjoyed playing dirty but always chose not to speak up about it.

"Thank You." Romina hated the fact that she smiled genuinely at Avery, but she knew he had been trying his best to tone his behavior down for her. She still wouldn't give it up to him, though, and she hoped he knew that. She also hated when he called her love. It sent shivers down her spine – the bad kind.

"It's beautiful." She admitted softly, lifting the rose, and turning it around in her fingers. She was careful not to prick herself with the thorns that were protruding from the stem as she set it down beside her plate and glanced over at Avery as he sat down beside her.

"You're welcome. I know you're not big on your birthday, but I wanted to give you something." Avery shrugged his shoulders, moving to pile a little bit of everything from the table onto his plate.

"I'm not going to shag you, Avery." Romina told him, glaring at him a bit as she nibbled at the piece of toast from her plate.

Avery rolled his eyes, "You honestly think I got you that rose because I wanted to bloody shag you?"
