The war continued on, and the death toll rose, but inside the tiny one bedroom flat that Romina and Sirius shared, there was a small sense of security. Their small group had been able to come out unscathed - aside from Remus having his typical monthly issues of the full moon. Whenever he was away on missions for Dumbledore, he came back with the same amount of scaring he had left with.
With the werewolf communes, he did not have to lock himself away during the full moon. A part of Romina felt sad about that, but whenever she saw him Remus knew what she was thinking and he was stern with her about not wanting any pity. Sirius would agree with him on that, but he would never tell Remus that. The last remaining son of Black would sulk in the corner, staring daggers into Remus' skull.
Currently, Romina was making work with wrapping little Harry's Christmas presents. It still felt wrong celebrating, but Harry was an innocent baby and she wanted him to know love and happiness. She knew his parents felt the same.
"Babies get a lot and they don't even remember any of it." Sirius murmured from his spot beside her on the couch.
"Quit your grumbling. I'll not have your sour mood bring down the happiness I want baby Harry to feel. It's Christmas." Romina shot back quickly, only giving her boyfriend a glare before turning back around to finish her masterpiece.
"It's December 23rd, Mina. That's not Christ-" but before he could finish that thought out loud, Romina swiftly tossed a pillow at his face. She had excellent aim, never missed a shot - magic or not - and was now grinning like a cat on her perch upon the couch as Sirius stared back at her bemused.
"Alright, you win. It's Christmas." Sirius sighed and tossed the pillow back onto the couch before joining Romina in the kitchen for dinner.

"Oh, would you just look at that face. Those cheeks!" Romina squealed as she tickled Harry's tummy, giggles erupting from both the grown woman and the soon to be five-month-old baby boy. Sirius was grumpy, which was beginning to be his norm, slouched in the corner with a warm mug of eggnog in his hands.
James usually did well to ignore the apparent rift between his brothers. He maintained his composure and ignored the snide remarks from either party, solely placing his focus on his wife and their son. But now, watching Romina so joyfully interact with Harry, James realized that this was the only happiness she had in her life.
