The new year, 1980, brought sadness. Reports of the death toll piling up were sent out every night it seemed and Romina could not bring herself to leave the comfort and safety of Sirius' bed for fear of what lay just outside the front door.

Currently, she was perched on the top of the kitchen counter with the latest edition of the daily prophet in her hands. "We have to do more. Right?" She looked up and meet Sirius' gaze. He was currently scrambling up some eggs for breakfast so they could eat together before heading their separate ways to their respective jobs.

"What more could we be doing?" Sirius responded, maintaining eye contact before he quickly turned back to the stove to plate up their breakfast. He didn't want to burn the bloody eggs - again.

"I don't bloody know but there's gotta be something!" Romina was frustrated. Not at Sirius, of course, but just in general. She was feeling overwhelmed and anxious all of the time. She wasn't really sleeping well at night and the dark circles under her eyes could beat the ones that Remus sports any day.

"You are doing all that you can. You have barely had a chance to sit down and properly take care of yourself, love. So eat. Please. I love you." Sirius whispered, one hand pressed on the counter beside her as the other cupped her jaw. He leaned in between her legs and puckered his lips up as though they were an offering of sorts.

Romina's lips turned up slowly, a smile taking over her usual frown as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "And I love you, too. You know that." She whispered, her breath ghosting across his face as she closed the distance between them. The kiss started off slow at first. Romina took her time in showing Sirius how much she truly loved him. Her hands traveled the expanse of his muscular back, raking her fingertips against him every now and again to add some extra pressure before she slowly began pulling herself away. "We don't have time, unfortunately." She laughed as she felt him dip his fingertips beneath her blouse, her forehead pressing against his as she watched his lips turn down into a frown.

Alone time was becoming hard to come by. They were surviving off of moments like these - passionate kisses in the kitchen, sensual touches in passing. It would just have to do for now. "Come on, let's eat." Sirius pulled back and let Romina slide off the counter, providing her support with his hand before they both sat down and ate their eggs in silence.

Once her shift was finished, Romina traveled by apparition to the outskirts of the little town Remus lived in instead of heading home to Sirius. She made sure to send him notice that she would be getting home late by way of patronus. Tightening her jacket around her shoulders Romina made her way through the grassy knoll just outside of Lupin cottage.
