Romina had lingered by her open window for long enough waiting for Otis to return. When he finally did return home, she was upset to find that neither his beak nor his claws were carrying a response to her letter.

"That's it. I officially have no one." She sighed softly, stroking the feathers on Otis' back and head before she finally walked away from the window. She was too busy frowning with furrowed brows to notice the beautifully groomed cat lingering in the gardens below.

She could still hear the shouting and laughter coming from the party downstairs. It was faint, and the noise sounded even more muddled in her ears as she collapsed into her bed, pressing her face into her pillows with a groan.

Her head was beginning to pound from the trauma of her hair being yanked from her scalp. Her arms were bruised by now, handprints around her biceps from being gripped up by Rodolphus. She was sure there may be half moon indents in the flesh of her arm from his fingernails but was refusing to inspect further.

To be honest, Romina was embarrassed. She was embarrassed that she did not have better safe keeping of her journal. She knew the information she wrote in there could destroy her life once seen by the wrong person. And unfortunately so, it was read by two sets of eyes belonging to individuals who refused to see that she was just a scared little girl who did not want to hurt anyone.

She may have been bred for this life, but she did not want it. Not anymore, at least. And now, because of this, she lost her best friend. The person that she thought, no matter what, would always be by her side. The person she would grow old with - platonically. No matter where life was to take her, she knew Regulus would always be with her. But now, now that was impossible.

She felt betrayed and knew that the hole in her heart could never be patched up. She was beyond repair. The hurt that Regulus' betrayal caused would never leave her. It made her stomach twist with sadness as another round of sickness traveled through her - sending her back into the bathroom.

She couldn't think of how much time had passed since she was brought back to her room. All she could think about was that the last time she looked into her best friends eyes was when he betrayed her. She was broken, and could not imagine a time where she would ever be able to look at Regulus and feel that love and comfort again.
