THIRD PERSON POV

"As such my dear king, this sweet news of mine shall ring in your delight?" The person said as he bowed down before the king, who was staring at his servant.

"News about this... mermaid? It's new for me, seeing a mermaid for the first time," the king replied as he stood up from his throne.

"Your Majesty, we should kill it and take it's scales and hair! We would make millions and millions of gold!" He said and the king tilted his head.

"Gold? I have lots of that. We shall not harm them. Rather, we should welcome them if they want to! Who knows? The land might flourish with them," he smiled, and the right-hand man sighed.

"Yes, Your Majesty, I'll arrange the announcement. By the way, I sent the servants to fetch your daughter. She will be there in the banquet soon," he said, and the king nodded.

This is the Kingdom of Erion, one of the most remarkable kingdoms in the land. Founded by the King Seo the Wise. That era was the most powerful and most bountiful period for the kingdom. It was also where strong and rare horses emerged.

"Your Highness, it is time for the banquet. If you need anymore help, the maids and I are here to assist you," the head maid said as she knocked on the door.

"Thank you, but I think Minjun is here to help me," the princess replied, her voice faint against the white wooden door.

"Understood, princess."

-

"Seriously my princess, are you sure you'll be on time for the banquet if you don't need extra help? Your gown took us 15 minutes," Minjun said as she placed a flower in her hair, styling it carefully.

"We'll be on time! I just feel safe with my only nanny to dress me," she smiled as she looked at Minjun.

"You just don't want the others to be in your room because you don't trust them, but there's no need because the king will catch them," Minjun replied.

"It's not that. The other nannies are great, but I only trust you to know what my tastes in dresses are," the princess smiled and Minjun smiled back.

"I'm done with your hair, I shall contact the escort to bring you to the banquet downstairs, Your Highness," the nanny bowed and the princess nodded before she left the room.

-

There was a huge chandelier, and it covered the entire ballroom. There were statues of gold and paintings on the walls, there were white baroque designs and there were long tables of food for all the nobles in the kingdom.

"Did you hear? King Seo will finally show her daughter's face in her 18th birthday!" A duke said.

"Really? And she's 18! She's probably married by now," the duchess replied.

"Dear guests who are invited to the banquet of King Seo for his only daughter," the butler started as he held out a paper scroll, and he stood on the golden-studded staircase where everyone can see him.

"

It is from the king's assumption that nobody has ever seen the face of this young princess, and he decided something special in this banquet," he started.

"The princess is here among this crowd, and whoever finds her and identifies her as the king's daughter will be given an award from the king himself," the butler read.

FLASHBACK

"Your Majesty, will it be okay for me to ask something?" The butler asked.

"Go ahead," he replied.

"Why would you hide your daughter's face in her 18th birthday, won't it be the time to show her to the public? Where everyone can see their future queen?" He asked.

"Yes, it is her 18th birthday. And... she is now a mature woman who is at the age to have children. It would be a delightful sight as a father. But... my dear butler, what is the use of getting married and having children if you are only after the highest position and wealth?" The king replied.

"In this era, strong kingdoms are formed because of riches, power, and fame. As a king, it would be wonderful to make my kingdom stronger, but I will never use my daughter as a tool, for she has not seen the true side of the world. And when she does, I want her to become powerful with the person she truly loves, and cherishes all her life," the king said.

"My dead queen once said this, that when you love someone, you will become strong... and that feeling is like being on top of the world," the king said, and the butler's heart warmed at his words.

"At the banquet, when I introduce her, the guests will come flocking to her, and suitors will increase and ask her hand in marriage, how can I trust those scoundrels if all they want is power? Surely my kingdom will fall. My wish for her is to meet a man who loves her not because of her title as princess, but as a woman who yearns for love."

END OF FLASHBACK

"Find the princess? this is her birthday, how cruel of the king!"

"He refuses to introduce her daughter in her birthday? This will be a manhunt at this point!"

"I heard the princess is nothing like the king, because she looks more like the late queen, and the queen died years ago!"

"This is hard, but we shall not give up! Our kingdom is at stake here!"

Meanwhile, the princess was standing at the balcony, listening to the announcement before closing her eyes.

There goes father, giving his ridiculous but brilliant riddles again.

As she was about to go back to the banquet, she felt something hard bump into her.

"Ah.... sorry," a small voice mumbled, and the princess looked up upon hearing the small voice infront of her.

A tall figure, and a broad chest, with beautiful eyes and black hair, he tilted his head at the small girl.

"Excuse me," he said shortly as he went to the balcony, no emotion was seen in his face.

The princess was intrigued, people would usually do bows of apology, especially when it's in a banquet, and they wouldn't be so down in the dumps she followed the young man with curiosity.

"I haven't seen you here before, are you a new prince or a duke?" She asked, and the man looked at her before smiling softly.

"Sorry, there has been a lot in my mind lately," he said.

"I am the young duke, Park Jimin."
