K's POV
We were waiting for the 4 new ILANDERs.
I didn't know what to feel.
Out of the million things that bothered me and tethered on my heart at the moment, one thing stood out.
Earlier that day.
"Lol K imagine if I got out."
I raised a brow at Hana. "You're really talented why would you?" I asked her, but all she did was shrug. "I 90% will." She laughs and I shrug. "Like I said with Taki. Hana if you get out I'll save you."
The girl started to laugh. "That'll risk Taki being eliminated so no."
Even though it was a light hearted conversation, I felt something off. "But seriously, whatever you do, don't use the card unless it's Taki. Especially not on me."
A new found seriousness was present in her voice. "Why are you so sure you'll get out?" I ask, watching her jaw clench for a split second, as if she was hiding something. "Just.. promise me K. Promise me whatever you do, you'll do as you said and save Taki, and only Taki."
I slowly nod, watching her finally smile.
"I promise."
She leaves the room, leaving me alone in my thoughts.
Present
I glanced at Hana, watching the girl stare at the floor. I looked around at some others staring at the girl too.
I stood up, catching the eyes of everyone in the room but her. I walked over to her and stood beside her chair.
"Hana."
She never responded.
"Hana."
Her head moved up, but her eyes still avoided mine. I kneeled down beside her chair and stared at her features.
"Sato Hana."
Her head slowly turned towards mine and met my gaze.
Her eyes were glossy.
"Why?"
I frowned at her words.
"K.. you promised. You promised me." Her voice was barely a whisper, but I could hear the hoarseness and the way it broke off. She spoke in Japanese, and her voice sounded more broken then I've heard before.
"Hana how'd you know?"
"Why K? I'm thankful but K you promised me you wouldn't.. yo-."
