Need More Power

We left and walked for hours after our conversation with Savilla, Lucas didn't say anything but you could hear the wheels turning in his mind. After what seemed like forever we stopped in front of my fathers study.

"Come in both of you"

My father sat at his desk, hair a mess and eyes blood shot from dealing with his father. They had brought Lycian up from his "resting place" and had him in one of the rooms in the western most parts of the castle. His screams had finally ceased but we could all feel his power radiating in waves, almost as if he was trying to get a feel for who was all in the castle.
Lucas and I took a seat and all three of us sat in silence for a long time.

"Call everyone in, even your father. It's time I clear some things and set the records straight. Savilla's tale was wrong. She was passed down garbled tales about the clans, about our numbers and what happened to us. We were far more than a few, we were many. I do not wish to retell this story more than once, and I need your father here so that he knows of Lillian."

My father looked at Lucas, eyes wide with worry and wonder as he sighed then nodded.

It took time but soon we moved to a bigger space so everyone could fit. Lycian entered last and as his eyes landed on me he gasped.

"She is beautiful my son. No wonder she wants her, Lucas you must protect her, be sure that whore  gets nowhere near my granddaughter. She can not take her!"

Lycian was foaming at the mouth struggling against his restraints, his eyes turning black as he fought with his beast. It took my father and Tristan several minutes to get him back under control before Lucas could finally speak.

"Savilla I need to correct your history. The clans were not small, in fact we were quite large, but once Lilith betrayed her family the Fae took the majority of each clan to another realm, one that would keep our pure breeds safe from her powers. Those who were left were the ones chosen to protect and carry on with this world. There is a whole other realm where our people thrive without "human" taint, without the atrocities of Lilith or Lycian's doing. I could call them back, but this world would perish if we did, the clans did not look favorably upon the intermingling of the bloodlines. That is why Lilith's parents refused her proposal to Lycian, not because he had a mate, they refused to have mongrel grandchildren. All Lilith saw was the power she could have wielded from controlling the hybrid child she would have had with Lycian. As for your immortality account, Vampyr are long lived, as well as all original clans. We all live for millennia, old age touches us differently, it was your ancestor that cursed us here on this realm with immortality. A curse that Lilith contorted to suit her whims. Another thing you should know about the clans is that if they feel threatened they can bridge the gap and come back over, once they do that it will be a war."

Silence permeated the air as well all took in what Lucas said.
Tristan cleared his throat bringing attention to him.

"Why is it now that you remember all of this?"

Before he could speak Lycian answered

"Because I unlocked the memories that he wanted so badly to keep hidden. I'm not sure what exactly happened, if it was a witch or his own powers that caused the block but whatever it was his memories where fogged over, hidden from him. When he came to see me last night I removed the fog. Unfortunately with the return of his came the return of mine."

"And your sanity it seems."

Lycian looked at my father who growled his comment at him. Lycian looked upset and sad as he stared at his son. No other words passed between them. Savilla broke the silence.

"Why was the truth kept from us?"

Lucas thought for a moment before responding

"To protect the clans I guess. If anyone knew there were thousands of pure breeds they would have looked for them. Humans can be foolish, and have shown little to no restraint, as well as some of the supernatural beings. Besides if the Fae would return and a Vampyr were to claim one or a witch, their powers would grow, they can not let themselves be captured. So they stay away, they watch us but stay away. "

She nodded her head in understanding but you could tell she was thinking of other things.  I was as well, so much had occurred recently that I was still trying to settle everything in place. It was the feeling of someone's eyes on me and Lucas' possessive growl that caused me to whip my head up.

"Stop staring at my mate before I rip your head off."

Lucas stood between Lycian and myself eyes dark as Lars was pushing forward but Lycian paid him no mind he leaned to the side to look around him and met my eyes.

"Your powers, they are far greater than your fathers, Lucas let her come here and feed. It is time she unlocks what lies hidden."

Before Lucas could protest my father had his hand around Lycians throat.

"Be careful of what you speak old man."

His words dropped venom from between clenched teeth but Lycian's facial expression didn't change as he stared at his son. Something passed between them and my fathers eyes furrowed before he released Lycian's throat.

"Come here Dahlia."

Lucas went to stop me but my father cast his power out and threw him against the wall. Tristan then came to restrain my father but he too joined Lucas. Bart then walked up along with Alexandria and laid a calming hand on each side of my fathers shoulder.

"Let them go brother, we will make sure they do not interfere, but be sure you know what you are doing."

Alexandria whispered as she turned to Tristan and Lucas. Savilla and Cammi were now on their feet standing behind me protectively, both ready to attack if needed. Once my father let Lucas and Tristan go Bart and Alexandria were there talking to them rapidly. Tristan calmed but Lars had taken control and I had to look at him and let him know I was fine, but no matter what I said he would not calm down.

"For fucks sake, let him be by her otherwise he will tear the whole castle down, she won't be hurt by drinking from me."

Lycian rolled his eyes at Lucas who joined my side and dug his claw into my hip and pulled me into his chest. I hissed in pain and slapped at his hand but he refused to let some space come between us, so we walked together towards Lycian and my father. Once we were standing over him Lycian smiled up at me.

"You will be our downfall child, you will bring the end, but only if you do not know the full strength of your powers. So feed, take my memories and with them the knowledge of what your mate doesn't remember, of who we are and why we are here. Of the reason for our existence. Take that power and maybe we will survive the war that is to come."

With a smirk he turned his head offering his neck to me, his carotid artery pulsing in rhythm to his heart and suddenly I was ravenous. I could feel the pull to him, his power calling to me, coaxing me to drink. My fangs hurt so much, begging to be released. I could hear everyone around me saying something, cautioning me but their words sounded distant and drowned. All I could focus on was a sweet whisper telling me to drink. Lucas tried to hold me back but his hold was pathetic against the urge and soon my fangs pierced Lycian's skin and his blood filled my mouth. It was so sweet, sickly sweet, my stomach turned with how disgustingly sweet it was but I couldn't stop because with every suckle I felt the power and saw the memories of which he spoke. So much fluttered past my vision, so much that Lucas didn't know. Soon it became to much as I released with a scream, grabbing my head and falling into Lucas' embrace.
