A Puppet

Rowan, my fathers name was Rowan. I stared at Abraham for a moment and then nodded my head for him to continue. He took a deep breath
"Rowan has always stayed to himself, he killed his parents when he was 500 years old, they had become ruthless and started a bloodbath. Their "children" those that were turned had started to bond together to take them down. That's how we were formed, Lycan, Vampyr, and human all with a common purpose. Rowan was a member at some time, once his parents were gone we thought he would take the throne, but instead he formed the council and retreated to his castle. He shows himself from time to time, attending balls and banquets, always with a woman we believe he turned. She didn't speak to anyone, she seems as though she's more of a puppet, arm candy if you will. He never stays long and then he leaves again."
He took a breath and looked at Trayven and Pamela then back at me.
"We got information about him contacting a wolf pack here and inviting some over under false pretenses , this was about 19 years ago. There was something about your mother that made him come out from his castle and take her. Your Luna and surrounding packs searched for her for weeks, when they found her it was in the arms of his arm candy. She then left back to her pack, I will say she had everyone convinced that you had never been born."
I sat there and listened, my father seemed to be an enigma, no one really knew him or what his motives were and are. What did he see in my mother, what happened to his "puppet" after she helped my mother?
"Eh-what happened to his puppet?"
Abraham sighed and Trayven took up the story.
"A local Vampyr coven found her, she was wondering around a swamp, clothes tattered and when they approached her she let out an ear shattering scream and "poof" nothing but sand on the ground and a dress laying on it. We think she may have been a witch, but without Rowan to confirm we have no idea."
Everyone was silent as I looked on with more questions than answers.
"When is the next ball or banquet or whatever?"
Abraham looked toward Pamela as she brought up the date.
"Two weeks from tomorrow, but you are not going."
She glared at me and I laughed at her making her growl, her scowl deepening.
"You will NOT tell me what I can and can not do. I want to meet my father, I have a lot to speak with him about. It can either be in front of the council or somewhere private. Your choice."
I glared at her, but I smiled the whole time. I could feel several of the people in the room pushing their powers at me, but I had my shield up and was using my power to reinforce it. Lucas chuckled and shook his head
"Stop trying to push her decision. She is too strong for any of you alone, even together, to persuade with powers. I taught her how to shield herself if you'll remember."
He looked at me and caressed my cheek. Pamela took that as a weakness in my shield and threw her power at me. I felt the harsh blow, no more persuasion, a threat and I pushed my power out to her. In her mind my voice boomed
"How dare you threaten me like I'm some pathetic child. For that you will be punished."
I moved my hand sending her flying hard into Abrahams desk. Before she landed on the floor I sent her flailing into the ceiling and then smashed her hard on the floor. Several cracks and screams of pain could be heard. There was a roaring in my mind and for a few moments I saw red, I felt my canines and fangs elongate and then the cool touch of Lucas. He whispered in my ear to calm down and his words soothed my rage. I took a deep breath and leaned back into his chest, Abraham and Trayven both staring at me expressionless.
"Why do I always miss the good stuff? Oh nice mark by the way Lucas, it's seems the mutt has you pussy whooped already."
Tristans cheery voice sounded loud in the silent room and it was followed by Lucas's growl.
I turned to see Tristan roll his eyes and then look at me.
"Your father left a message for you, everyone may want to see it. And Pamela do get up, you look so pathetic on the floor."
Then he was gone, and no one moved. He popped his head through the door and eyes red commanded
"Now would be a good time to move and follow me."
It was different from the commands and powers I have felt from anyone else. I haven't seen Tristan since the first day I was here. I watched as everyone except me and Lucas started to move, but I could tell Lucas was fighting hard to resist. I took his hand and heard him take in a breath as if relieved. Everyone else walked out of the door. Lucas leaned to me and whispered
"We should follow, let's not give Tristan an inkling that we can resist him."
I gave him a weird look but nodded and we followed. I mindlinked him once in the hall
"Why does everyone listen to Tristan? Is he the boss or something, I mean he can't be much older than me."
Lucas smiled down at me as we kept walking
"Tristan is a direct descendent from Queen Lilitu, one of her four Vampyre children. He is thousands of years old, only slightly younger than your father. He has powers no one is even sure about, best to let him believe he can control you as well, he is not one to have on the wrong side of things."
I nodded and remembered what Tristan said the first day I got here, as well as how he laughed as Lucas had him by the throat. Looking at Tristan there is no way you would think he was that old, fuck I hope I look that good when I'm his age.
We got to the main hall and standing there was a glassy eyed red headed woman. She was stick thin and almost looked like an animated skeleton with hair. Her dress was magnificent though, and she held a package in her hand. No one dared go near her and when I got close she turned and looked at me with colorless and lifeless eyes.
"Daughter of Rowan."
Her voice echoed in itself and was devoid of anything resembling humanity. I walked towards her with Lucas and Tristan close to me.
"Yes...."
"A gift I present to you from your father, as well as a greeting."
She offered me the package and then her voice became the voice of my father.
"Two weeks my child, I will be waiting for you at the ball. Please except my gift, oh and Lucas, congratulations on you finding your fated mate, be sure to protect her, you will not like what would happen if you don't."
She then turned her face towards Tristan
"Hello brother, I look forward to seeing you as well. We have much to discuss, I'm sure you've felt her stir. Something is coming."
And with that the woman looked to the ceiling and screamed a horrible sound and poof, she was gone, leaving a pile of sand and her dress.
Silence filled the room and I walked over the pile of sand. Something was off about it and without thinking I grabbed a handful. I could feel the energy and power running through it.
"Someone get me a jar please, I'd like to keep her."
Tristan laughed, Abraham huffed, and Pamela gasped. Lucas brought me a jar, I handed him the package and scooped up enough to fill the jar. I turned back and looked at Tristan, even though he was laughing it did not reach his eyes. I tried to mindlink him and was shocked when I did.
" I think you, Lucas, and I need to talk."
"I will meet you in your rooms in about two hours, then I will fill you in."
Then he turned and left. Lucas and I walked to our room, both of us wary about what is in the package.
