Hi lovelies! Finally wrote another chapter! Enjoy!
"Well, Ray could break his leg too!" Emma exclaimed. Norman and Ray looked at her with confused expressions. I looked at her like, 'the f**k you just say girly pops?'
"Smart, right?" She continued.Ah yes, let's just break everyone's legs. We'll be geniuses.
I cleared my throat. "Uh...A little bit of an explanation would be much appreciated." I hinted for the orange-haired girl to continue.
"You just—break a few bones!"
Ray and Norman stared at Emma in bewilderment. "Emma... what are you?-"
Emma interrupted the black-haired boy. "I think, since my leg's in pretty bad shape, it's probably unlikely I'll get shipped out in Norman's place! Same goes for Y/N!" Emma said with a smile on her face. I didn't understand how she could talk about death in such a casual manner, but I didn't question it. Norman gasped lightly as he realized that Emma had a good point.
Emma continued with a smile, "Remember what we heard at the gate? We're high-grade merchandise. And special too! When we go out, we've gotta be in perfect form. If someone were to take his place, it'd be Ray,"
Ray started grinning when he realized what she was saying, and it dawned on me not a moment later. I smirked, realizing that Emma's optimism was helpful for once.
"But if you were to get hurt like me, you wouldn't get shipped out straight away!" She finished. Ray's grin turned into cackling. I hadn't heard him laugh in a while.
"Good thinking, Emma! Let's do it!" He said, with a somewhat maniacal look in his eyes.
"Yeah?!" Emma said in excitement. I smiled as well. Then I realized how painful it would be for him. I was about to comment on it, but Norman beat me to it.
"Wait a second, guys. There's no proof you won't get shipped out if you get hurt like that."
Emma's determination in her eyes only grew, responding to his comment in a heartbeat. "Then, we'll make him catch a cold!"
That was perfectly fine with me. A cold won't hurt nearly as bad as him breaking his arm.
"The demons wouldn't want to eat a sick human! I mean, would you want to eat a sick human? wait-"
Emma interrupted my strange comment. "So, you'll break your arm and get sick. You sure you're okay with all of that?"
"Um...maybe just the cold is fine..." I said quietly.
"Yeah!" Ray responded to Emma, both of them disregarding me. I felt ignored... I didn't really like feeling ignored. Feeling ignored is like people can hear you, but they choose not to hear you.
"Maybe we can set up string phones to communicate?" I suggested meekly. Ray glanced at me, realizing how timid I sounded. His eyes softened for the smallest second before he grinned at me.
"Sure! Sounds fun! Also, that way, Mom won't hear us," He said.
Norman tried to interject, "Y-you guys-"
"-If that doesn't work, then I'll think of another plan! I'll do anything!" She exclaimed. She wasn't lying. I could see the determination in her eyes. She wasn't going to let her best friend die, and she would do whatever it takes.
"But...why? This plan's just crazy, isn't it?" Norman asked, his eyes full of confusion and fear. How could he not see that we cared about him so much? We've been friends since we could talk.
"Well, I like it much better than letting you die," (A/N Ngl, the way that she said that in her same happy tone as usual kinda freaked me out. Like girl we ain't planning a birthday party or something, we're literally trying to save your best friend and OBVIOUS LOVE INTEREST from getting CHOMPED by a demon!) "Remember what you said once? 'We'll all flee from here together!' So, if you're not part of all this, I won't accept it!" Emma said, placing her hand on top of Norman's. "Let's live together, okay?"
Emma's lime green eyes were brimming with tears, waiting to spill out. Norman was looking at her in the same manner. It was obvious how much they loved each other, though seemingly not to them. Norman's tears started streaming down his face, glistening in the light of the lamp. He covered his eyes. "Yeah..." he agreed, slightly muffled. We all comforted him as he cried.
Hi lovely readers! I know this chapter was short as well, but I'm starting to lose interest in this book. I have tons of other ideas for books that I'm eager to write, but I made a commitment to finish this book. I also liked this place to end the chapter. Don't worry, I'll finish the book, I'm just letting yall know why it's taking so long. I love you all!
