Chapter 19

After we had finished eating, we head up to our room and finish getting ready. I put on some clothes other than Nat's for once.

"You ready to go?" Nat says as she makes her way over to me and kissing my head. I was sitting down by the mirror.
"Mhm." I reply as I finish the coat of mascara I was putting on. I get up and follow Nat out of the room and to her car.

We drive over to town. I forgot, but it was almost Christmas. The town centre was decorated in lights and it was blanketed in a thick layer of snow. I stare in awe outside of the car window.
"You like Christmas, huh?" Nat says, a smile on her face as she looked over at me. I nod my head as I continue to look around. Nat parks and we head hand in hand to some shops.

We get inside a shop and I go to the candle aisle, dragging Nat with me. Christmas candles are my favourite, the cinnamon ones smell great. I grab a few and we get some other stuff as well.

It's the 16th of december, so I should think about Nat's present. I think I want to get her a necklace with 'Tasha' on it, and some other stuff as well. I know necklaces are kind of cliche, but I think Nat will like it. I've seen her wearing silver jewelry, so I'll get her it in silver. I was trying to figure out a way to distract Nat when she starts talking.
"I'm gonna go and get your present, be safe and run if you see anything that's out of place." She says. She kisses me on the forehead.
"Okay." I reply, looking up into her eyes. I kiss her then walk over to a jewelry store I had seen when driving.

I order the necklace and they say it will be ready for pickup tomorrow. I think about what else I want to buy her whilst walking around stores. I notice someone. Alec? I turn around to see him behind me.
"Alec? W-What are you doing here?" I ask. I was nervous, Nat told me about what he did. Wasn't he taken in by that S.H.I.E.L.D place?
"Y/N. I'm glad you're okay! You haven't been answering your phone and you've moved out of your dorm." He says, hugging me. I wasn't sure if I should trust him, he's my brother, but I trust Nat. It's hard to push him away.
"Yeah.. I'm doing it online now. I broke my phone a month ago and I haven't managed to get a replacement yet." I explain.
"What happened to your lip? And forehead?" He asks, noticing the wounds on my face.
"I tripped, I'm fine Al, don't worry." I smile reassuringly.
"Do you wanna grab lunch? Are you here with anyone?" He asks.
"I actually can't. I'm sorry, I'll call you, I'm gonna go get a phone now." I say smiling at him.
"Okay, talk to you later." He says as he walks off.

I head to a phone store and buy one with the savings I had. I got a phone case, then put in some numbers that I remembered.

After a while of walking around, I find Nat.
"You ready to go to the library, котенок?" She asks as she pulls me into a hug.
"Yup. You get everything you need?" I ask.
"Yeah. Did you?" She asks.
"Pretty much, I have to pick something up tomorrow though." I reply as I take her hand in mine and we walk towards the library.

I think about whether I should tell Nat about Alec, and decide that I probably should.
"I saw him. Alec I mean." I say. She takes a second and looks at me.
"What do you mean? He was taken in?" She says worriedly.
"That's what I thought." I say.
"You're sure it was him?" She asks. By now we had stopped walking, and were facing each other.
"Yeah, we had a conversation." I say.
"I need to make some calls..." She says.
"Should I wait for you in the library?" I ask.
"No, stay with me in case he comes back детка." She says as she pulls out her phone. I hear her talking to some dude, but don't really pay attention to what was being said. It was cold out, so I was hugging into Nat for warmth. She was resting her head on my shoulder.

Once Nat finished the call. She puts her phone back into her pocket.
"He escaped. Do you have a way of contacting him?" Nat asks me, looking me in the eyes.
"Yeah, he told me to call him. I just got my new phone." I say.
"We should talk when we get back, we should enjoy ourselves for now." She says, sighing slightly. "Where do you want to go for dinner?" She asks as we begin to walk to the library again.
"Hm.. how about that steakhouse down the road?" I suggest.
"Yeah, that sounds nice." Nat says. She seems tired. I guess with a job like hers, she would be. I'm kind of nervous, what if she gets hurt on a mission? I don't know what I'd do.

After a couple of hours of chilling at the library, we head home and change into some nice dresses and go to the steakhouse.
"You look amazing детка." Nat says as we walk into the restaurant.
"ты выглядишь горячо (ty vyglyadish' goryacho-You look hot.)" I say, winking at her.

We sit down and start talking and catching up.
"Are you okay? I know that being taken like that couldn't have done anything good to you." Nat asks.
"I think I'm fine. I haven't really thought about it though." I say as I go through the wine menu to see what I want.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" She asks me.
"I- I don't know.. I don't want to bother you." I say, choosing the wine I want.
"You wouldn't be bothering me котенок. I love you and I want to make sure you're okay." She says, resting her hand on mine on top of the table.
"Thank you, I love you too. I love you so much. It was scary.. I was confused about what was going on. I missed you. They would make us train and stuff, but I'm glad that I'm out now. I don't think that I wanna talk about it, but I- I just don't know." I say. My head's a mess.
"You're safe now baby, and if you do wanna talk about it, find me." Nat says reassuringly. She squeezes my hand.

A/N: I think something went wrong with uploading the previous chapter, but oh well.

I haven't really read this through because I have school soon and don't have the time, but I think it should be pretty much fine lmao.
