At the mansion's dining room, Tara waited for Mycroft as Mrs. Green served the food. As Mrs. Greene left the dining room, Tara stopped her, 'Mycroft?' she asked, noticing the empty seat at the head of the table.

Mrs. Greene looked at Tara uncomfortably, 'Mr. Holmes said he'll be taking his dinner in the study' she told Tara.

Tara's face remained unphased. After all, it wasn't the first time that week that Mycroft hadn't come for dinner. He would be gone all day, and even when he was at the mansion, he would busy himself with work and hide in the study. Needless to say, he no longer slept with Tara in the master bedroom. He either crashed in one of the guest bedrooms or on the couch in the study. 'Thank you, Mrs. Greene' she said and stood up. Tara strode through the hallway of the mansion and entered Mycroft's study, 'Mycroft, we need to talk' she said as she entered. She had endured his silent treatment for too long, now she was running out of patience.

Mycroft looked up from his laptop, through his reading glasses that were perched on his nose, 'I'm in the middle of something. Can we do this later?' he said, the indifference flowing easily from his lips.

Tara shook her head in exasperation, 'Okay, what do you want to do, Mycroft? Do you want to leave me? Start talking lawyers? Get a divorce' she asked desperately.

Mycroft angrily pulled off his glasses, 'Can I just have a moment to process, without you jumping to conclusions?' he asked and stood up.

Tara looked at him tearfully, 'I have tried to apologize, I don't know what else to do, Mycroft. What is it going to take for us to get past this?' she asked, trying her best not to cry.

Mycroft looked at her with a clenched jaw, 'You said, you don't trust me. I apologize, but my wife saying she doesn't trust me is a little hard to ignore, Tara' he said sarcastically, not caring if it looked like he was attacking her.

Tara shook her head, and approached Mycroft's desk, 'I trust you as my husband. More than anything I trust you, but what I don't trust... is the diplomat in you. And you're not an exception, I don't trust any diplomat for that matter' she said honestly.

Mycroft scoffed, 'Well, that's comforting' it wasn't though. It made him worry about the longevity of their marriage. He was a diplomat, had been one for over 20 years. It was a huge part of him, and if Tara couldn't trust it then Mycroft couldn't see a point in their relationship. Their relationship was built on trust, and at that moment neither of them could trust the other.

Tara knew she had betrayed Mycroft's trust, but she didn't regret what she did. What she did regret was hurting Mycroft the way she did. Time and again she had put the case in front of their marriage. Tara looked with misty eyes and a pensive expression, and tried one last time, 'I'm sorry but I don't. There are times in every agent's life, where they are face-to-face with the enemy, but they can't kill that motherfucker because they have to report back and wait for instructions. Instructions from a diplomat who has never been on the field, who has never worn a bulletproof jacket, who has never been shot at, who has never killed anyone. We're fundamentally different. For you, we're just a bunch of codenames and paperwork. You have to make cold calculated decisions unaffected by your own interest, that will best benefit your country, your government. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me. After everything we've been through, I can't risk this weapon falling into the wrong hands, even if they're yours' if she was trying to save their marriage that might've been a very shoddy attempt.

Mycroft looked at her and sighed, he was still bitter, 'I get it. But I can't look past it and I'm just not ready to forgive you'.
