In the backyard of the Rathore Manor, Tara, Mycroft and the Baker Street boys, are drinking with all three of Tara's brothers. Sangram is cooking a couple of rib eyes and kebabs on a Kalamzoo grill in the backyard, as he sipped on his beer.
'Bhai, I'm so sorry things didn't work out with you and Meera' Tara said, as she sipped on her brandy.
'Oh, you don't even know the half of it' Vikrant snorted.
'What do you mean?'
'Big brother dearest got all dressed up, wore his best Armani perfume, even shaved his beard before he came back from the mission, and he was about to leave when he suddenly gets a message from his wife. Saying 'I am tired of this relationship, it's over'' Vikram narrated, and Vikrant laughed out loud.
Tara couldn't understand, it was too soon for any of them to be drunk enough to laugh for no reason. But she shrugged it off as brotherly cruelty. Her brothers had always been particularly cruel to each other, in a very different way from Mycroft and Sherlock. 'I am really sorry, I didn't know', Tara tried to comfort her brother.
'Cool it, that is not the interesting part. Part two, bring us home' Vikrant tells his twin.
'A little later she messaged him again. Saying 'Sorry, sweetheart, this message got sent to you by mistake', Vikram said and laughed.
Mycroft and Sherlock are merely amused, Tara chokes on her drink, and John joins the twin brothers in their mocking laughter, but to a lower degree, he did feel bad for the Colonel.
Colonel Rathore merely shakes his head, 'I am telling you, I am done with women' he said and gulped down his brandy.
'I knew you fooled around in the army' Vikram accused cheerfully.
Sangram rolled his eyes at his little brother, 'I meant I was done with marriage. But yeah, we did have a lot of naked sword fights in the shower' he added with a chuckle, he was getting a little drunk.
Everyone in that room knew what the Colonel was talking about, even Tara. In her days, she had taken a shower with 10 men in the bathroom. Things happened. Some called it being flexible, others called it roughhousing. It was never to be spoken of.
'Anyways..., Tara, I am surprised you haven't gone insane yet' Vikram said, changing the topic.
'I wouldn't take that bet' Mycroft muttered, gulping down his scotch. Tara glares at him, and the others laughed, married life was already draining the Iceman.
'A woman like you. I figured you wouldn't last a week. You were the best, your planning never failed in any of the missions. You don't belong in a bakery' Vikrant tells his sister.
'Hey, everyone has to hang up their holster one day, it was my turn. I just can't go back to that life again' Tara said softly.
Her brothers are unconvinced, but choose to stay silent. She ran away from her old life and went and married Mycroft Holmes. Tara could lie to herself all she wanted but like Watson, she was addicted to that lifestyle, to that danger. She wasn't haunted by it, she missed it. It made her feel alive.
