Forget Me Not (A Midnight Story)

Chapter 9: White Stargazer

A few minutes later, everybody else woke up, confused as to what had just happened, but Kayama had seen everything. She lay on her knees in disbelief, feeling like she had lost everything, her friend from the past, her willingness to learn more about herself, and some of her closest friends. She was on the verge of tears. Her whole life had lost all of its meaning to her. She had nothing left to stand for, to fight for, to live for.

Aizawa came to and walked up to Nemuri, "What just happened? Wait! Where's Midoriya? Yaoyorozu? Todoroki?" He searched around frantically, but Kayama looked down and blankly said, "It's all my fault." Aizawa placed his hand on her shoulder "No, don't blame yourself! That attack had nothing to do with you" but she swatted his hand away, "It is my fault! That villain was my friend back in high school. I pushed her away and that caused her to become evil. If I hadn't shoved her aside, we would all be here together."

Kayama teared up, but then All Might walked up to her and offered his hand, "Come, I need to show you something" She kept looking down for a second but eventually took his hand as he helped her up.

All Might led Kayama through a hallway to his office, "So, who was that villain and how do you know her?" he asked. She decided to tell him the truth, "Well, the thing is, I found my diary from high school and I've been using that to try to find the secrets to my past. I found out I was friends with this student named Suimakuma. She looks like a succubus and has the power to knock people to sleep and control their minds until they fall back asleep." Midnight continued, "We were best friends until I found myself a boyfriend. I did not notice at the time but she was becoming increasingly lonely and jealous. One day she called him out of the room and put him under her control, starting a riot, all because I was a terrible friend!"

All Might led her into his office and started searching through a drawer in his desk, "You got half the story right, Suimakuma did go mad and started a riot by putting your friend under mind control, but here's the part you missed." He eventually found a newspaper article and handed it to her. It read, "Rising Student Hero Helps Prevent Large Scale Riot at U.A. Academy". The front page also had a picture of her surrounded by her Somnambulist, standing amidst the action, in control of the situation. "Keep reading," All Might told her, and she continued.

"U.A. Academy went under lockdown today when one of its first year students, identified as Suimakuma, put fellow student Asashi under mind control, causing him to go mad and start going on a destructive rampage. Luckily, fellow student Nemuri Kayama stepped in and used her quirk, which knocked out the mind controlled student. She managed to bring the student to safety while hazmat suited police officers hauled Suimakuma away into custody. Asashi is currently being hospitalized and expected to recover by next week. Meanwhile, Kayama is now the school's hero and is being praised by both faculty and students for preventing a large-scale disaster."

Kayama was stunned as she read on, not only did she manage to stop her friend from causing mass destruction or even death, but she was recognized as a true hero for her actions. "You see Midnight, this is how you became recognized as a true hero, because you always step in to make sure everybody's safe and you always have a plan." All Might explained to her, "That's how you became accepted as an honorable member of U.A. Academy's faculty and staff. Heck, that's how I knew you were just the kind of person these students needed."

Just then, a knock came upon the door. It was her friends from Class 1A. "You have always been there for us, always willing to help out," said Ashido. "You taught us to be bold and let us define who we are, not our quirks." Aoyama added. "And on top of that," Tsuyu added, "you are a great mentor and an amazing friend!" They all gathered for a group hug. Kayama almost teared up, now she truly understood how everybody felt about her, she was somebody who would do anything to help those she cared for.

As they let go, Midnight felt reenergized with a new sense of self confidence. "Thank you everyone, now I have to do the right thing. I must go save my friends!" All Might slowed her down, "Whoa, whoa! That's great that you want to help out, but you've only just relearned how to use your quirk. We don't even know where Midoriya and the others are being held captive!" Midnight paused but quickly recollected herself, "I need to do this. Even if it takes me the rest of my life, I must track those kids down." Suddenly, a spark went off inside All Might's head, "You know what? Maybe there is a way we can track them down!"

"So, you need help tracking down your friends?" the bubbly pink haired inventor responded. All Might answered "Yes Hatsume, you're the one who put tracking devices in their outfits right? That way they couldn't lose to each other." Hatsume looked at her side sheepishly, "Yes, but I made sure Deku's was the only one I could track! He's just so cute!"

Midnight looked at her awkwardly, "That's...not creepy at all." but Hatsume ignored her as she activated a tracker on her computer. She typed in some coordinates and then blossomed, "Ta-da! There they are!" They looked at the screen and analyzed the location, "It looks like some sort of abandoned metal factory." said All Might "Oooh!" Ashido called out, "It's just like the one I saw on an urban exploration series I watch on UsTube!" Midnight was fascinated but remained focused, "That's great, but how am I going to get there?" Hagakure answered, "Simple, I'll just send you the coordinates and you can head on over! You'll probably need to get there by car though" All Might hesitated before finally telling Midnight, "Fine, you can borrow my car." Midnight snatched the keys and ran off, "Don't worry Yaoyorozou, I'm coming!" she called out.

Back in the metal factory, Mr. Compress threw out a ball, freeing Midoriya. "Ow! Now I know how a Pokemon must feel!" He turned his head and saw Todoroki and Yaorozu waking up, tied together back-to-back, "Ohhh...where are we?" Momo asked. "I don't know," said Midoiya. Then they heard a familiar voice "Guys?". Midoriya gasped, "Oh! Uraraka! Are we happy to see you!" Uraraka looked aside and told them, "You guys must have gotten captured during that invasion." Todoroki nodded, "Yes, now we need to find a way out of here!"

A door opened "Welcome my new companions!" a voice called out as Suimakuma walked into the dimly lit room. "What? Who are you and what do you want?" Midoriya called out, getting ready to strike. "Name's Suimakuma, and I'm here to change the hero world forever!" she said as she stroked her finger across Deku's chin.

"I'm warning you!" Deku yelled as he got ready to fight, but started to feel very sleepy, "Tsk tsk." Suimakuma said teasingly as he fell asleep, "Next time, don't try to fight back.", squeezing his face flirtatiously as he passed out. After putting him aside Suimakuma turned to the other three, "Now, for all of you to help me accomplish my big dream, I just need you to relax a little." She hummed more and the other three fell back asleep. "Not again..." groaned Todoroki and he nodded off. Suimakuma started rubbing her hands, "Now for step three of my master plan." she slithered as she chuckled sinisterly.

I cannot wait to continue this story and finally reveal just what Suimkuma's plan is and what Midnight will do to stop her and save her friends.
