Part 10

Everything happened in a blur at the cabin. After the unsub fell I ran over to Jennifer. I wrapped her leg up as we waited for the ambulance. I was numb the whole ride to the hospital.

When we get to the hospital they immediately took her back. I slid down the wall of the waiting room and pulled my knees up to my chest, my forehead falling against them as I sobbed quietly.

I felt someone sit beside me then arms around me.

"I got you, it's going to be alright" It was Dave. I leaned my head against his shoulder trying to calm down.

"I can't be without her Dave.. I haven't felt whole in a while but begin with her has brought so much happiness into my life. God, I wanted y'all to meet her in a different way, not like this."

"I know kiddo. She must be pretty special for you to hide her this long. We are gonna be here for you guys every step of the way. We are a family and we stick together. Remember that" I smiled and wrapped my arms around Dave giving him a hug. He kissed the top of my head.

"You're an amazing man Dave Rossi" he smiled and stood up then helped me up.

"Go wash up, we will be in the waiting room" I nodded and took off towards the restrooms.

It's been 4 hours since Jennifer was taken back to surgery. Her mom came after the first two hours, she sat beside me reading.

As I was leaning my head back to rest, I heard the door open.

"Jennifer Jareau?" I jumped along with the team and ambassador.

"I'm her girlfriend and this is her mother, is she okay?" I asked, the ambassador put an arm around my shoulders.

"Detective Jareau is doing fine. We managed to get the bullet out, no serious damage. She will be on crutches for a few months, PT for about 3 of those months depending on how well she listens could be sooner. We are finishing up a few things and getting her other scrapes and bruises tend to, then, you can see her" I covered my face as tears down my face. I feel and hear Garcia as she pulls me into a hug.

I'm sitting in the chair beside Jennifer as I watch her sleep peacefully in the hospital bed, she looks so small. I wipe a tear away as it rolls down my cheek. I have to be strong for her. I reach over and grab her hand.

"Hey baby.. You made it. I'm so sorry for everything that happened to you. I'm gonna be here every step of the way. Having your back and being there for you as you recover. You're my heart and soul and I need you.. I love you so much. The team can't wait to officially meet you as my girlfriend. Garcia is so excited but I need you to wake up baby.. please. I need to see those beautiful eyes and that perfect smile" I brought her hand up to my lips kissing it softly.

God everything hurts. Last thing I remember is Emily yelling my name. My whole body is in pain.

I need to wake up for Emily. I need to make sure she is okay. I have to move, I have to open my eyes. I have to do something.

I can hear someone talking, they're crying. It's Emily. I can't let her cry over me, you have to wake up Jareau.

Her hand moved! "That's it baby, squeeze my hand tighter. I'm right here, open those eyes" I saw her eyes move under her eyelids, I leaned forward and ran my fingers over them softly.

When I pulled back they fluttered open, I smiled wide as tears leaked for my eyes. "Hi baby"

"When can I get out of here?" I rolled my eyes as Jennifer asked her doctor that.

"Well Detective Jareau, your knee is in pretty bad shape. You're gonna need someone to look after you for atleast 6 weeks."

"That's gonna be me Doctor. She won't be along and she will definitely be resting and following all orders" he nodded and look through her papers.

"Well, I wanna run a few more tests and if everything looks good then you can head home in the morning" he gave me some papers with everything that she has to follow, the paperwork for her medicine and physical therapy. He left the room and I turned to look at her.

"How are you gonna take care of me Emily? You stay in Virginia and I live here. I can't ask you to take all your time off for me"

"Well... I was hoping you would come home with me... We have some amazing doctors in Virginia. If you're there then I could still work since you're gonna be out for a while..." I looked down at my feet as I picked at my nails. "Obviously you don't have to but I just thought that since we are dating you would wanna be with me while you healed. I can miss work to stay with you... I think getting away from there might help you"

"Okay... I'll come stay with you" I looked up at her with a shocked expression.

"Are you serious?"

"Yes Emily. I love you so much and you've done so much for me. I would love for you to be my nurse" I smiled at her and walked over to her; grabbing her face.

"I love you so much Jennifer Jareau" I leaned down and kissed her with everything I had in me.

She was safe in my arms and here soon in my apartment. I've been thinking a lot about our relationship and I want Jennifer to move to Virginia... I want the next step in our relationship but I can't do it without her, but how does one approach that topic?

I guess we shall find out.
