I watched Zack walk away and he turned to smile and give me a small salut before disappearing behind the trees. Tingles skipped through my fingers where his hand had been I squealed and raced back into the school looking for Tasha. A smile spread across my face and I fought down giggles as I jogged towards the bathroom. When I got in there, there was a note from Tasha on the mirror. It said:
Sorry, I had to leave. My mom wanted me home quick. Swing by if you can. I'd love to hear how it went with Prince Charming :)
- your bae
TashaI ripped the note before anyone else walked in and threw it in the trash. Didn't need anyone thinking I had a crush on anyone. I was about to step out of the door when a chill ran up my leg and froze it right where it was. Footsteps echoed on the floor. "Nice friend," a low raspy voice hissed from somewhere in the bathroom. My legs were itching with the urge to run but neither would move. "She looks nice. I wonder, how nice would she look with her throat slashed open and her insides ripped out spilling onto this floor." The demon stepped out of a stall with a bony finger tapping its chin in thought. It tapped its foot on the polished floor. "I wonder, what would this floor look like tainted in red. Red is a nice color. Yes, very nice. Especially glossy blood-red. Nice and fresh from a human body." Its horrific purple eyes fell on me and its mouth spread into a gigantic smile with all of its sharp rows teeth showing, and for once, there was no blood dripping down its mouth. I willed my body to move but it stayed put. It took a step closer and the cold spread up my body faster. But for some reason the hand that Zack had been holding still tingled and I could move my fingers a little. "What...do you...want." I managed through my clenched teeth that were beginning to chatter. "Hmmm," it tapped its sharp nail against its pointy chin. "I would say your death but that wouldn't be as fun would it? You see, your the kind of person who figures things out pretty quick, which poses a threat to me. And I don't like to feel threatened. Dying at the hands of a weak mortal like you would be a total shame to me. You got close the first time, but you wont get another shot at it. I have plans that I do not need any mortal coming in the middle of. So if you do so much as attempt to kill me again, or stop me, I will make sure you and all of those you love will suffer greatly." With that it surged forward, lifted me by the collar with its sharp talons poking holes in my shirt, and threw my frozen body out of the bathroom effortlessly like a bag of feathers. My back slammed to the wall and the wind was knocked out of me. I coughed and gasped for air, staring wide eyed in shock and terror at the bathroom door where the creature no longer stood.
