The ambulance arrived 5 minutes later and I watched as they carried my sister away into the car. My dad rode with her and suggested my mother and I stay home. I tried to go back to sleep but I couldn't. Thoughts kept disturbing me over and over again. Why weren't you there in time? You could have prevented this. Do you even know how to kill what did this to her? Or were to find it? She could die and it would be your fault. I felt like crying into my pillow but the tears wouldn't come. I had already cried so much that I didn't want to anymore. I took deep, shaky breaths. Okay Daija, I told myself, you're going to figure this out and Bella will be fine. I snuggled into my bedsheets and repeated that last part in my mind. Bella will be fine. Bella will be fine. Bella will be fine. I repeated these words in my head over and over again and slipped into a dreamless sleep.
