How's school today? Monica ask her daughter when she arrived at home.

Everything went well, thanks to Adrian's help.

Good to hear he was there to assist you on your first day, I know you could rely on him.

I'm sorry I didn't fetched you and your brother at school.

It's alright mom, I know how busy you are at the office. You  don't have to compel in sending  us to school everyday, let our driver do that.

I know Lizzie but sometimes I need to see you and your brother off  to school. I don't want to missed  those things when you were off to college. I want to treasure every  moment I have with you guys, even the shortest times.

Mary suddenly remembers what Adrian told Chris earlier. She haven't thought of her mom's feelings, what he said is in fact  true.

What is it Lizzie? Monica try to read her daughter's expression.

It struck me what Adrian said earlier to Chris. I realized that other people could see what's more important than a momentary act of selfishness to those people around you.

What it is all about your brother said to Adrian?

He told him that he doesn't want to be called a mama's boy when his friends see him being  cuddled and treated like a baby.

And what did Adrian said?

He told Chris that he should treasure those moment because when he grow older he will going to missed all the pampering and affection from you, and he shouldn't mind what other people say as long as it didn't affect the family.

Oh, I really admire Adrian, he has an excellent upbringing that's why Henry and Paula were so proud of him. Where is your brother anyway, I hope what Adrian said could influence him in a positive way.

I heard you mom and I'm sorry, I know how much you love me and you did the best for me.  I thought I was tough and mature already that I forget the most important thing is love from my family. Ade is more discerning, he pointed out my mistakess today and I promised I won't act being selfish again.

It's okay my son, remember it's only the three of us now, that's  why I want us to be supportive towards each other. As your mother, I want to see both of you show  respect and be there for each other no matter what.

We understood mom, they said in unison.

Now go along, I know you have thigs to do.

Mary head back to her room and decided to call her bestfriend. She missed Abby, today is the first day of school and the first time that they were not together. She felt nostalgic thinking of the past years that she and her bestfriend rushed to school and had  a sleep over when they have projects and assignments. In her new school she doesn't have  someone like Abby whom she can confide and share her worries. Adrian's maybe there and even Brian but the fact they were men it doesn't seemed right to bother them of her problems. There were issues that only her bestfriend could understand due to the fact that they have known each other well.

She search for her phone and dialed Abby's number. She waited for a few rings before she answered.

Hey there M, how are you! 

Abby's exuberant voice banished her earlier somber tboughts.

Glad you finally answered. You are busy enough and forget that you have a bestfriend who misses you.

Sorry if I didn't answer right away. I was talking to someone when your number flashed on my screen.

And I know who,  now you did find him more important than me.

Are you kidding me!  you're my bestfriend, my soulmate. No one is more important than you. Abby's impassioned words made Mary burst in laughter. 

Mary Elizabeth Williams! are you  making fun of me.

Oh Abbs, I missed your witty conversation you know. You always know how to lift my spirit.

I missed you too M, especially today. I was bombarded with questions from our classmates asking why are you not with me. I don't know how to answer with that without getting emotional.

Me and you were both Abbs, thanks there was Adrian and Brian, I'm not totally like a babe lost in the woods. Speaking of Brian, is it really true that you and him? Mary didn't finish whatever she's trying to say when Abby is murmuring how Brian should pay for  being a tattle prattle.

That's a big word Abbs, as if you have sinned against me, Mary laugh, sometimes her besrfriend is so dramatic.

Well,  we promised not to have a secret and I lied to you, unintentionally though. The thing is..yes we are in a relationship now.

And you just told me this now? if not for  Brian who blurted it out by mistake I wouldn't have known.

Enough of your flattery, I forgave you already silly. She heard Abby giggles, it made her smile also.

How are you going to survive a long distance relationship? He is your first boyfriend.

Brian is persistent that's why I agreed, were going to call each other everyday or face time at  night. During school break either he will come to visit me here or I will go there in New York. I prefer going there so  I could visit you guys, I missed aunt Moni and Chris,  give my regards to them by the way.

Sure, I'll tell them, and don't worry about Brian I'll watch him for you.

Enough of me, how about you?

Brian haven't told you?

He quoted, don't worry about your  bestfriend, someone is watching her like a hawk.

That's a bit of exaggeration.

Is it true that the bitch Caroline and her minions tried to shamed you in your class?

You know me,  I don't  want to attract attention,  but Adrian on my side all eyes are on me especially Caroline who were throwing daggers at me.

Oh M, what are you going to do?

Just ignore them, as long as they don't do anything bad for me, I will extend my patience. I just want to study in peace and survive this year  until college.

You have a much bigger challenge M, but I know you could face them head on.

Looking at the clock it's already 9pm.

We need to hang up now up Abbs, we still have school tomorrow.

Mary is preparing for bed when a notification popped on her screen. It's Adrian wishing her goodnight.

She replied, good night also with a sleeping emojis...

"See you tomorrow" another message from him.

She just send him  a smiley emoji. She was excited to see him again tomorrow.
