THE MISFIT

Chapter 29

Arriving at the school on Monday morning and the usual stares of the students thrown at Mary made her self conscious.

Adrian had an early practice today so he is not able  to wait for Mary at the entrance when she arrived.

Braving herself to trudge the hallway and ignore the whispers of her fellow students who is not even discreet to gossip about her being Adrian's new girl. She was happy to see the familiar faces of her new found friends who waved their hands and waited for her outside their classroom.

Hey Mary! Simone was the first one who greet her followed by Sam, Maddie and Sadiya.

Hi girls, how's your weekend? ask Mary .

Mine is pretty annoying, replied Simone. Can you imagine sitting at the dinner table with your enemy infront of you who done nothing but being a bitch the whole time?

Did you just called me bitch?

They didn't notice that Caroline and her minions were behind them.

"You heard me right, so what if I did.

You! Do you think I would be happy to have you and your tramp  of a Mother to stain my eyes of your despicable presence? I cannot even swallowed the food infront of me when I looked at your ugly faces.

Simone is not ugly, she is far more beautiful than any of us. Bad manners is what makes people ugly, like you...who trample other's dignity. Mary cannot bear the thought that there are people who felt superior and entitled that they forget they hurt someone's feeling.

"Stay out of this you country rat. Do you think just because your mother acknowledge you among our peers doesn't mean you're one of us now. You are still an outsider and you don't belong here.

Atleast my mother is proud enough to acknowledge me as her daughter.

Caroline has loss for words. She never though that Mary would stand up for the likes of Simone and even gaining a respect of their fellow students who listened in their conversation agreeing about Caroline as being a bully. She look at everyone's faces who stare at her with disgust. She really wanted to put Mary on her place and show her who is superior in their school, but she suppress her anger knowing there were onlookers who is now curious at the scene unfold who might witness her crazy side. "If you think were done here, you're mistaken she told Mary clearly malice in her voice.

"As if  were scared of you !". Simone is the one who answered to Caroline's threat.

"Break it off girls, the show is over. What are you doing outside your classroom? Hearing Mr. Dennings authoritative voice the students suddenly  disperse and get back inside their class." I don't tolerate bullying in my class, leave your issues at home.

After their teacher reminded everyone regarding school policies  their class went out smoothly.

Mary and her new found friends were seated at the canteen for their lunch break.

Adrian is not with her since he was called at the principal's office  with Brian and just told her he would join with her later.

"Thank you M for defending me against Caroline earlier, Simone said abruptly.

"What are friends for, beside I cannot stand  someone being bullied. You reminded me of my bestfriend Abigail,  and I was her champion by the way, Mary proudly said with a smile on her face.

Have you seen Caroline's face red from anger? Samantha laugh.

Glad that someone could stand up for her. Did you  see other's faces? they looked at her with disgust, quip Maddie who were doing a high five to Sam.
