The incessant banging in the door both awaken the girls from their deep slumber. Still tired from the past few days Mary felt lethargic and had no desire to entertain any unwanted visitors right now. But whoever it was behind the door had no intention of living easy as she heard a loud crashed in the doorway.

Both girls running downstairs to investigate the ruckus made when they heard hushed whispers and tiptoeing. They meet in the bottom of the stairs and clasped their hands not knowing who those intruders are.

Abigail worried face looked at Mary's pale countenance squeezed her hand for assurance that whoever those people are, they have to face it together.

Before they move forward to where those voices are, they searched for somethings as a weapon to armed theirselves and ready to battle those who come here uninvited and disturbed their peace.

Together they trudge in the living room and charged in the unsuspecting guest who was startled when the girls wave their makeshift weapon at their faces.

There are three of them, a beautiful and elegant woman wearing fur coat with a perfect coiffed hair, those face staring at Mary with undisguised happiness and a bit of sadness lurking in her eyes seems familiar to her. A boy who is around 10 years old which resembles the woman and if she's not mistaken to her also. And there's a giant of a man with a crisp suit who stood like a body guard with his stoic persona.

" Who are you people? What are you doing in our house"?

The woman rushed forward to Mary and hugged her.

" Oh my darling, I came rushing since I heard the news. I'm sorry I was too late for the funeral, I was out in the country and I just came back today. My Peter, what happened to him was so sudden that we haven't been able to talk about our plan to reunite.

Hearing the words from the woman, Mary tried to escape from her clutch. She know alright who the woman is, she just pretended not knowing her because she hated her for what she done to them. Seeing her shedding fake tears and her false words of reconciliation Mary explode.

How dare you come back here and showed your face after all these years. Don't pretend you cared because it's all a facade. You have the nerved to be remorseful when you abandoned us for your ambition? What give you the right to come here when you loathed everything that reminds you of these awful place. Yeah, I remembered, that's what you said to Dad when you packed your things and not looking back when I called your name and pleading you not to leave us. You are so heartless that day marching out on these door leaving your family behind. I was just 6 years old that time you were gone when I needed you the most. You almost killed Dad with his grief saddled by a child that constantly asking her father where is her mother. If she didn't loved us anymore, and you know the worst part was? Dad continued believing that one day you've come to realized that we are important to you and you would come back.

Years , years of waiting and I finally gave up and I came to hate you. Yes, I hate you for what you've done and I will never forgave you.

Mary runs upstairs and locked herself in her room sobbing her eyes out with the mixture of grief and anger. She punched her bed repeatedly wanted to lashed more on her mother for her pain.

" Oh my God what have I done? my baby she hates me, tears pouring her eyes with deep sadness for the child she had abandoned. She is consumed with guilt that she caused so much pain for her child. Too much regret would not bring the lost times, but she had to be optimistic, she wanted to be with Mary now more than ever. That's what Monica Williams promised to herself.

" Mom, are you alright? Christopher asked his mom.

Looking at his son, she was again filled with remorse. How can she faced her children with all the lies she lived in. Her son was not given the chance to know his father and sister because of her cowardice to fight for her family. She struggled for composure knowing she had to be firm in her decision in fixing her mistakes, starting telling her children the truth.

Come here son, Chris reached his mother and hug her. It's okay Mom, I don't want to see you sad and heartbroken. I know it's tough right now, but given a few days everything will be alright. I will help you explain things to Mary. I know you have reasons to hide things from us but you're the best Mother I could ask for, I love you Mom...

Thank you son and forgive me, I am such a bad mother hurting her children like this. I'm so lucky to have you all these years, I wouldn't have survived if not for you. All I regret is not having our complete family, and when I thought of your father and sister separated from us I'm dying slowly. Now that your father is gone, all I ever want is your sister's forgiveness and the three of us together. I know this is what your father have wanted.

Abby silently observing and listening the comfrontation cannot help but voiced her concern.

" Excuse Maam, I'm Abby, Mary's bestfriend. Sorry to interrupt but I cannot withhold my curiousity anymore. I know these been tough for all of us, but you have to understand your daughter's perspective. All of the town's people know that Mary is orphaned now and you showing here might come shocking to everyone. I don't know the circumstances of your family's fall out, all we know is you're dead. Uncle Pete and Mary didn't talk anything at all about you so people assumed that... you know.

I know, and it's my fault so I didn't blamed anyone but myself. Thank you Abby for being there with Mary when she needed someone. Regardless, I am here now and I will stay until I earned my daughter's forgiveness. I'm sorry if I put you in a tough spot but can I ask you a favor?

" Sure, anything that can help my bestfriend happy.

We come from New York and we would like to stay for a couple of days or maybe weeks depending on the progress of the matter at hand. I would like to ask you to be with Mary when I explained things, I know you're the only one who can reach her right now. Is there a hotel in town were we could stay? It's been 10 years I haven't in this place, I don't know much anything about it right now.

Why don't you stay in this house, it's still your house right? I don't know if there's changes in the house before but guest rooms are available in the upper floor. It's much better if you stayed with Mary rather than in a hotel for you to easily see each other and communicate.

I don't want to impose, I know she hates my presence right now. It might complicate things, she didn't see reason and it's still fresh for Pete's passing that she might blamed me or herself.

I guess you're right, and you cannot fault her, uncle Pete is her life and this hard for my bestfriend to cope. But I think is the best idea if you stay here, it's much better for both parties.

Alright I will listen to your suggestion and rely for your help. Looking to the house it didn't changed much, it feels like things haven't changed since she'd been gone. Pete surely leave things as it were, how she missed him. If only she could turned back time, but it's too late for regrets, she only hopes for the things to get better with her daughter.
