THE MISFIT

Chapter 7

The day progressed filled with fun and laughter. Each one of them contributed to make it more like a family bond. Even Abigail participated and enjoyed the teasing from the siblings. She was happy to witness her bestfriend to finally found peace in her situation and now surrounded by the love of a family.

Mary was left with Abby when her mother went upstairs to send Chris to bed.

I'm glad you reconciled with your Mom, I can see it in your eyes that any resentment and hate are gone. I'm happy that you decided to move on and choose not to linger in bitterness. So, you have a good talk earlier?

Oh Abbs, I cannot imagined what my Mom have been through. I don't know how she'd done it all and still remain strong despite the horrible things she experienced in the hands of her step mother.

So Mary told Abby about her mother's story.

Wow! I thought it could only happen in a movie not in real life. She was aghast that someone could be that evil just for money and power. I admired your mother M, you are right, she is indeed a strong and remarkable woman and you're lucky to have her. I'm glad that it's not too late for you to realized that there is a silver lining in everything that comes in your life.

And I'm thankful to my bestfriend who constantly reminds me that it's not easy to live your life filled with hatred, it will only brings misery. Thank you Abs for opening my eyes and never let me sink into the dark pit of despair. Even in the depressing moment of my life you stood for me, I owe you so much gratitude for being the anchor in my moment of weakness. If not for you, I would have given up or live my life in destruction.

I would never abandoned my bestfriend when she needs me the most. I told you, you are my sister and I always be here for you even if you throw me out I will stick to you like a magnet. I never doubt you will rise from your grief, you have the strenght to carry on despite in thinking you are weak. You just need a little push to point forward in the right direction, but I highly doubt you would let yourself be beaten by any tragedy. After all you are your mother's daughter, fierce and resilient and your spirit cannot be broken by any tribulation.

How can you be so wise Abbs, you know me more even I doubted myself. You are undaunted in your belief that I would emerge from the deepest form of despair that I allowed myself in.

We made a pact, remember the promised we made that whoever needs help, one would always be present.

And I can't thank you enough, I'm so lucky to have a bestfriend like you whom I could count all the time.

Don't make cry M, enough of these sentimental attitude, I'm just glad I have my bestfriend back.

Have you two not going to bed yet? It's already late and Elizabeth you need to rest, you're not completely recovered your strenght yet.

I'm going to head to my room now, good night Aunt Monica, M, Abby went upstairs first.

Mom... Chris mentioned earlier that he meet Dad before...

I know you're going to ask me that, she sighed... yes it was purely coincidence that I meet your father. Did you remember his trip to New York a year ago? I was walking down from a restaurant when someone yells my name. God, the exact moment I turned and saw your father standing few feet away from me it's feels like surreal, as if I was back to the moment when we first meet. We just kept on staring, standing in the sidewalk. I don't remember who moved first, only the feeling of disbelief and happiness that after all those years we haven't seen each other it dawned in me the realization that I was not dreaming when he engulfed me in his familiar embrace. I was so excited to tell him that finally we were free from the grasp of my evil step mother and we could be family again. One thing lead to another, I brought him home and he was shocked to learned that he had a son after all those years with out him knowing. I was worried that he would hate me in hiding  the truth about your brother, but your father is a kind and understanding man, he just forgive me easily.

That's Dad, he is the kindest man I know, that's why everybody in this town likes him. What about Chris? how does he feel when he meet Dad for the first time?

Oh, your brother was elated and excited to learned that he had a father, he understand the situation we were in and he never held a grudge.

Yeah,... I can't believed that boy is so mature beyond his years, he even advice me to be forgiving.

Your father and I had so many plans together to reunite our family. After he comes back here, we constantly communicate. He even talked to your brother about you. I'm sorry he never told you his plan, he wanted it to be a surprise for you.

After the death of my step mother, I was so busy in settling things, businesses to undertake that it took me longer to settle the matters and now it's too late, your father is gone. I was so happy that we were given the chance to be together but these things happened suddenly and it hurt me to think that the only man I ever love is lost to me forever. Monica cried, for all the pain she endure in losing Pete..

Oh Mom, you never lose him, Dad loves you so much, he may never be here but his memory lives in our heart. And I know he would be happy that you, Chris and I were together now. I know now the reason why the smile never left on his face when he came back from New York because of you. When I asked him why he's happy he would always say he's working on a huge surprise for me, so it's not wasted Mom...

I know Lizie, it's just that I missed your Dad so much, and it hurts knowing I coudn't see him anymore.

Mary just let her Mom cried, she realized she's been selfish to noticed that her mother and brother are suffering also. She promised to herself that from now on, she would always be there for them.
