Heyy everyone, @sincerelyrxse - Willow - here :)

Today I want to talk a bit about having the motivation for writing.

The idea of writing always makes me excited, the idea of all your thoughts being put down in perfect words on paper and at the end having the most amazing story for others to read.

But, honestly, it's never that simple.

Actually sitting down and writing can be a very daunting thing, especially when you're on your first draft, which is never perfect. As said by Terry Pratchett, 'The first draft is just you telling yourself the story.'

But with all your ideas crowded around in your head, sometimes it's best to do a few other things before starting to write...

1) Make a Pinterest board, every character, place, culture can be but into your board and also really helps visualisation for descriptive writing.

2) Create a Spotify playlist. Songs are really good to set the mood and will help you think about how you want your book to come across to readers.

3) Mind map, I know it sounds boring but mind maps really help with getting ideas down and connecting everything together. Bullet lists can also be another way to do this.

4) This one's for any artists out there (and anyone who just likes to draw)! Just sketch your setting, it doesn't have to look good, it doesn't have to be a work of art, but sometimes pictures from Pinterest don't properly show your characters features or the setting your book is set in.

5) And finally, before you sit down, get a snack and a drink. Finish everything else you need to do and have your notes with you. Light a candle or some incense. Switch off your notifications. This means you have no reason to go and fetch something else or get distracted. It'll just be you and your book.

I hope all this helps you! Have a great day <3
