Well, one reason I love reading is that reading is my hyper focus.
If you don't know what that is, let me explain. I have ADHD. That stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, and it basically means, I have a hard time focusing, and a hard time staying still. Lots of people with ADHD have a hyper focus, and reading is mine. A hyper focus is something that is much easier to focus on, and sit still while I'm doing it.
Another reason is that reading books transports you into a different life! I've lived dozens of lives, while my brother, who is very anti-reading, has only lived one. I just feel that reading a book is like becoming the main character. And that, is one of the most magical, and terrifying, experiences of my life.
One more reason: I have a slight issue, and it's called falling in love with fictional characters. It's a crippling disease. But hey, my life wouldn't be the same if it weren't for Percy Jackson, Leo Valdez (Percy Jackson and the Olympians/Heroes of Olympus) Keefe Sencen, (Keeper of the Lost Cities) Finnik Odair, Peeta Mellark, (The Hunger Games) and so, so, so many more.
Well, I hope one of these reasons prompted you to go open your favorite book, or a brand new one, because who knows what amazing life you could lead?
