"I still find it strange that you don't want to go with us," says my dad. "You love the Black Parade!"
"Seasons change, and so does my music taste," I reply.
"He's just going through a phase," my mom sighs. "You know kids and their phases." "It's not a phase, mom, this is who I really am!" I shout angrily, marching to my room.
Once my parents leave, Brendon and Gerard come inside. "We're going to party like it's Las Vegas!" Brendon cheers. "I can't wait! Who did you invite?"
"I sent out a text to a few of our classmates," I say. "I made enough pumpkin squares for eight people. Do you think that's enough?"
"I don't think so..." Gerard says, gazing out the window. Half the school has pulled up in the front yard, and are about to enter.
Elisa comes inside with a few of her friends. "Cool party, Trick!" she grins. "Thanks, Elisa," I blush. I crank up some My Chemical Romance songs and everyone dances happily.
"This punch is amazing!" Gabe Saporta says, taking a sip of it. I drink a few cups when I begin to feel strange. "I don't remember that punch being alcoholic, Gabe," I tell him.
"It isn't," Gabe laughs. "I spiked it." He pours punch on himself and bursts into a mad laughing fit.
"Whatever," I giggle. "I'm going to go see Elisa. I think she went upstairs."
I head into my room to find Brendon making out with Sarah Orzechowski. "Patrick?" gasps Brendon. I dash out of the room and into the hallway, where I bump into Elisa.
"Hey Trick, what's up?" she says. "Nothing much," I say. "How have you been?"
Holy smokes, Elisa's talking to me! What do I do? What do I say?
I try to speak, but I wind up muttering, "I think I'm in love with you." Uh-oh, word vomit. Then I begin to feel sick, and actual vomit comes up.
"Patrick, are you drunk?" Elisa asks. Okay, I really am just drunk. Having humiliated myself yet again, I run outside where I see a car pull up.
"Hayley? Pete?" I gasp. "I can't believe you had a party and didn't invite us. And you missed my music contest! Not cool, Patrick," Hayley says angrily.
'It's not that big of a deal, Hayley," I say. "You're overreacting. It's like you're obsessed with me or something!"
"Oh my gosh, you did not just go there," Pete replies, throwing some papers at me. "These were the lyrics to our song. We wrote it for you, and it won a prize." "You're just as bad as the Plastics now, Pat. You've been such a jerk lately!"
They drive off, but I can still hear Pete Wentz screaming in the distance, "AND I WANT MY BLACK HOODIE BACK! I WANT MY BLACK HOODIE BACK!"
I'm popular, but I lost my two closest friends in the process. Opening the song lyrics, I see the song Pete wrote for me.
And in the end, I'd do it all again, I think you're my best friend, don't you know that the kids aren't alright?
Looking into the distance, I see Andy pull out a Kalteen bar and start munching. "Andy, why are you eating a Kalteen bar?" Frank Iero asks him. "They make you gain weight like crazy!" Andy spits out the bar and throws it to the ground. "Then... I'm going to kill Patrick Stump! He lied to me!"
Holy smokes, what have I done?
