Rosa's POV
*
For a moment, I forgot I was Gonzalo's...care giver or should I say nanny?
I'd gotten caught up in dealing with his mood swings, performing my duty as a personal assistant — which I was getting paid for by the way, and also acting as his caregiver. And now his parents were already in the vicinity, and we'd never met.
I excused myself to go change my clothes and look more presentable for them.
How should I introduce myself to them later on? Do I say I'm his caregiver or his personal assistant or his girlfriend?
Going though my wardrobe, I settled for a deep blue sundress that reached just a little above my knee caps and black flats. Then I put my hair up in a lose bun and checked myself out, satisfied.
The blue is a cool color, not too flashy like the yellow dress I had also considered before and also not too daring unlike red. Also, since I was living here with Gonzalo, there was absolutely no need for me to wear sandals or heels.
The ringing of my phone snapped me out of my thoughts and I frowned at the unknown number, picking the device. Skeptical, I wondered who could be calling me at such a time.
Maybe it was from work, but still I only received calls on the company's phone and not my personal phone.
After two rings, I decided to pick the call. I could always hang up if it was like the weird calls I'd been receiving when I just got to Italy, where the person on the line wouldn't say a word and then I'd be left wondering if those people my mom was trying to keep us from had finally caught up with us.
My right thumb slid over the device to receive the call but didn't say anything.
"Hello?" The person on the other line said.
I stiffened for a few seconds, my breathing going rapid as my eyes widened.
"Rosa?" The person called.
I blinked. "Mama?"
Several memories slammed back into my mind and I heaved an deep breath. Memories of her pushing our passports into my hands, telling me she already took care of the paperwork and we should get out of the country, reminding me not to ever call her mama again. Her covered in blood.
Everything.
"Rosa? Baby, how are you?" Her voice came out excitedly even though it sounded as if she was whispering or couldn't talk properly wherever she was.
"Mama- mom?" I repeated for confirmation. My brows furrowed in confusion as several feelings slammed into me. Happiness, anxiety, curiosity, fear and so much more.
"Yes my love, how are you? How are your younger ones? How is Greta doing? How is Leo's studies? Have you all been eating well?" She fired questions upon questions.
I giggled and felt a lone tear escape an eye. Still the ever caring mother, as always.
"I work now mama. So how are you and how is dad? We are all doing well here. I'm making sure they have their meals early, Leo has been doing well in school so far." I told her proudly, glad I was getting well paid for my job and was also able to properly take care of my younger ones at the same time.
"Oh, baby. I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have put you through all these when you should be enjoying your young life. By the way, what do you do?"
"I'm working for this businessman, I work as his personal assistant. How are you mama?"
