Rosa's POV
*
Immediately we drove closer to the building, I heaved a deep sigh. I'd never done this before, but I was confident I could pull it off. Gonzalo's words from the other day about me bringing shame to his name made me frown as I wondered if I would have to answer any questions from the paparazzi or pretend to be a nice and calm person if they asked me any stupid or offensive question.
I could already imagine the words that would be written in the headlines if I replied them with a snide remark.
*Flash marriage wife of business Mogul, humiliated at a charity gala*
*Indecent club dancer, who was revealed to be the wife of Businessman and heartthrob, on fire for daring to attack a paparazo at an official gathering!*
*Rosa Rodriguez brings shame to the Rodriguez household in her first official outing with husband!*
Then they would be accompanied by several pictures of me looking forlorn while the news reporters flashed away with their cameras.
I chuckled and shook my head, reminding myself that I shouldn't be thinking of useless things.
As if Gonzalo could sense my thoughts, he grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it. Then he told the driver to step out for a bit.
"Why did you ask him to step out when we're already so close to the venue?" I asked him.
"Rosa, are you still very angry with me?"
I frowned at him. Why was he asking that now? "No." I replied truthfully. Of course I was still angry but not so angry that I wouldn't care about his feelings or understand his intentions.
"Then why don't you like showing me any affection? Huh? Be it at home or in the presence of others. Can you soften your heart, please? Let's make this work between us."
"I'll look into it." I told him, feeling slightly offended because this wasn't the first time I'd heard such words. I'd never been one to take initiative in a relationship and sometimes I preferred to just hang around the person and do things we had in common instead of acting mushy or talking feelings.
Maybe that was why I often lost interest in those I'd tried to date in the past and they'd also taken the initiative to break up with me before it could even be established as dating.
Did they really see me as such a boring person?
I looked up to see Gonzalo staring at me with a look of speechlessness.
"What?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing much. It's just that I poured my heart out to the woman I'm in love with and she merely said, 'I'll look onto it' as if this is a business proposal or a criminal case that she needs to investigate. But don't worry, I know I've become tainted and a mere man in her eyes all because I fell in love with her and am willing to protect her. She thinks the measures I took in making her my wife are too despicable. I'll give her a break so I don't keep suffocating her with my love and-"
I pressed myself into him and kissed his sweet lips, fluttering my eyes close to enjoy the taste for a moment before I pulled back. He stared at me with a dazed expression.
"I'm not good with talking feelings. Just...accept me as I am."
He didn't speak for a while and I was beginning to wonder if he didn't like what I said when all of a sudden, he chuckled.
