Rosa's POV
*
I told doctor Drake to restrict Gonzalo from coming in here to see me.
I'd just been moved to a VIP ward from the emergency ward I was. This didn't feel like a hospital, it felt like I was in a fully furnished room with a nurse seated close to me, who had been ordered by an angry Gonzalo to be at my beck and call before he left.
"Your husband is so nice to you. He spent the whole day with you when you were just recuperating. He wouldn't even leave you to get his wounds stitched up." She gossiped.
I squinted at her in irritation. "He's not my husband."
She gaped at me for some seconds and mumbled something to herself.
Then she opened her left hand and slowly wiggled it before my face. She stopped and took her thumb down.
"How many fingers are here, Mrs?"
"Four. I'm fine, there's nothing wrong with me."
"How come you don't remember your own husband? The man that left you a few minutes ago. The businessma-"
I snorted. "Yes my...my boyfriend. Ugh, I hate this."
"But you're both wearing matching rings. And Dr drake referred to him as your husband. Or is it that you don't remember getting married to him? I should notify the doctor about this." She gave me a worrisome look and I groaned, since any physical activity caused me so much pain.
"I, yes he's my husband. I just had a misunderstanding with him and said that. I'm hungry. Please call in my bodyguards at the entrance." I told her so she would stop talking.
The irritation from Gonzalo's action and words were still bubbling in my head and I wasn't ready to get over it.
"The hospital me-"
"No. I don't like hospital food. Please call in my bodyguards." I gave her a saccharine smile but she stood her ground and still repeated it that for now, I would have to eat just the hospital food.
Swallowing my pride, I picked my phone and quickly dialed Gonzalo's number, which was already in my speed dial.
He picked up immediately. "My love."
The term had my heart racing but I was angry at him. I couldn't fall for his sweet terms.
"I'm hungry." I stated softly.
"I'm on my way." He replied coldly and ended the call.
The nurse, who was staring at me with a smile, thinking I'd accepted to eat hospital food immediately looked panicked when she heard what I'd just said on phone.
"Was that your husband? You didn't have to call him. I-- I'll call in your bodyguards, Mrs Rodriguez. I apologize deeply. He threatened to fire me the other night and it took several pleas for him to take back his words. I-"
Gonzalo came in and strode towards me, his gaze soft and apologetic. I stared at him unblinkingly even though I'd seen him less than an hour ago and he hadn't become either more handsome or uglier.
"What do you want to eat?" He picked my hand and pecked it, relaxing a little when he observed me and saw I wasn't going to scream at him again or struggle with him.
I just stared at him as different questions started surfacing in my mind.
Why did he do it? Was it love or was there some other reason behind it?
