Fear filled Delilah when, after three and a half hours of captivity, the basement door opened again and two sets of footsteps descended the stone steps.
"Ah, look who's finally awake. You won't believe what we've got in store for the two of you."
The man who said that then reached into his back pocket and produced a pen knife, smirking evilly as he twirled it around in front of her face. Tears streamed down Delilah's cheeks as she trembled in fear.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. I'll make sure you die quickly, you won't feel a thing. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for your friend here."
He glanced briefly at Lucas.
"He's a werewolf. An enemy. He'll receive a slow and painful demise. Now, I just need to decide which of you to kill first."
"No! You can do whatever you want to me, just leave her alone! Don't hurt her!"
Sighing, their captor stood, dismissing the other. Once it was just him, Lucas and Delilah in the basement, he began pacing back and forth in front of them.
"I have to respect your chivalry, kid. You're willing to die for this girl? That's brave. It almost makes me want to spare your lives. Then I remember what you are, and I think... no, I'm right to be doing this. In fact, I can do it right now. I've just decided who'll be the first to die."
He unchained Delilah and held her tightly. She sobbed, back against the man's chest, the cold blade of the knife against her neck.
"Given how much you seem to care for her, I bet watching her die would really mess with your head. It's the perfect form of torture. This is going to be so much fun."
Smirking, their captor bit hard into Delilah's neck. That released a chemical into her bloodstream which made her numb to any pain. Her sobs got louder as she struggled, trying desperately to get away from him.
"Stop it! Let go of her!" Lucas yelled at him.
Meanwhile, in the Prince house, Aria had dropped the lip gloss and opened her eyes. She had a location.
"I know where they are, but we don't have long. If you're coming, put your hands in and I'll take us there. Decide. Quickly."
Virgil, Roman and Patton all put their hands in. Within seconds, they were outside of a cabin which was in the deepest part of the woods. Inside, Delilah was passed out on the cold, stone floor of the basement. Lucas, now in his wolf form, stood over the deceased body of the man. After making sure he was really dead, he walked to Dee and nudged her gently with his nose. Blood was dripping from the fang marks on her neck.
"I smell blood." Patton told the others as they all walked into the cabin.
"And- a werewolf... It's coming from there."
He nodded to the basement door. Virgil walked to the door first, not hesitating for even a second before pulling it open and rushing down the stairs. The first thing he saw was the kidnapper's body, then Delilah and the wolf he didn't know was Lucas.
"Oh my god."
Aria rushed over to check on Delilah, making sure she was still breathing and that her pulse was strong.
"She's going to be okay. Looks like the man was killed before he had the chance to do any real damage. I'm assuming we have you to thank for that. Huh, Lucas?"
She looked at the once again human Lucas, who nodded, a small smile on his face.
"Delilah was going to die. I had to stop him. I'm glad she's going to be okay..."
"Guys, this man, I know him. He works for me. He is- was a member of the clan." Patton told them.
"I'm sorry. I should've been keeping a closer eye on everybody. I could've prevented this."
He looked down sadly.
"It's all my fault."
Virgil hugged his brother.
"You're an amazing leader. You're not to blame for this. It's his fault for not letting go of that pathetic, stereotypical rivalry. He is to blame."
