It took a few weeks for things to fully return to normal, it almost seemed like nothing had ever happened. Though of course, that wasn't the case. Both Roman and Virgil were surprised at just how okay their daughter and Lucas seemed. It was currently Christmas Eve, and Delilah sat on the floor of her bedroom doing some last minute wrapping. The gifts she'd gotten for her parents and other family members were perfect, she knew they'd love them. Lucas' gift however, she wasn't so sure of. How was she supposed to give it to him when she knew he was going to despise it? Getting up, Delilah walked over to her desk and sat down, looking on her computer for last minute gift ideas. Nothing seemed right though.

"Damnit. What am I supposed to do?" she asked herself, frowning.

While that was happening in Delilah's room, Lucas sat wrapping gifts in his own. Having not known the family for that long, most of the gifts were simple things like chocolates or cologne. His gift for Delilah was less typical and had cost quite a lot, but it'd be worth it to see a smile on her face. Lucas' plan was to give her the gift in private, and then ask her to be his girlfriend. He'd been waiting for weeks to do this and was extremely nervous because he really loved her and didn't want her to turn him down. He thought that if she rejected him, their friendship would be ruined, that was the last thing he wanted to happen. By now, it was around 11:30pm and Lucas decided it was about time to go to bed, there was no use worrying about what could happen.

"Goodnight." Delilah said as she passed her parents on the stairs.

"Dee, it's late. Where are you going?"

"I'm just grabbing a glass of water before I go to bed. Don't worry, I won't sneak a peak at my gifts." she joked.

Her parents smiled, nodding and then going up to their room. Once she was sure that everyone was in bed, Delilah put on her coat and left the house, going to a store that was open 24/7 and sold pretty much anything. Looking around, she was hopeful that she would find something that would be perfect for Lucas. However, she left the store empty handed and went back home, falling asleep in her bed feeling disappointed. In the morning, she was the first to wake, taking the gifts for everyone downstairs and putting them under the tree. Even the present for Lucas was set down, neatly wrapped, alongside the others.

"Merry Christmas." came Lucas' voice from the bottom of the stairs.

"I was hoping I'd be the first up so I could bring you breakfast in bed." he told her as he walked over to the tree, setting his gifts down.

He'd left Delilah's gift upstairs for later.

"Merry Christmas to you too. Don't worry about breakfast, I'll take a hot chocolate though, thank you."

"Coming right up."

Lucas went to the kitchen and made hot chocolates for the two of them, and also for Virgil and Roman who he could hear were now coming down the stairs.

"You're both up early. Though, I guess that's good. We don't have to wait to open presents."

Virgil nodded in agreement with his husband, smiling at Lucas when he walked in with a tray that had the four mugs of hot chocolate and a plate of biscuits on it.

"Here you go. Now we can open gifts."

Delilah sat cross-legged on the floor, picking up her drink and taking small sips as the four of them began opening up their presents. They sat together doing that for around an hour and a half and then, with no more gifts under the tree, Dee realised that she'd not opened one from Lucas. Her uncles and godmother had arrived not long ago, giving her the opportunity to sneak way to her room. Lucas very quickly noticed her absence.

"Dee... are you okay?" he asked, knocking on her bedroom door then going in.

"Why'd you come up here? You shouldn't be alone on Christmas Day."

She sighed, not wanting to sound petty.

"I-I'm okay... it's nothing, I'm just being stupid. Sorry about your gift by the way, I know it was probably a let down."

"Are you serious? I love it. I'm already wearing it, see?"

He held his arm to show her the expensive, silver watch on his wrist.

"It's perfect, Dee. I mean it. And, speaking of gifts... Well, come with me. I promise you'll love it."

Delilah hesitated before getting up and going with him. Lucas smiled as he led her into his room which he'd decorated with balloons, rose petals and candles.

"What is all of this?"

"It's all a part of your gift. Now for the main part..."

He took her gift out of his desk drawer and handed it to her. Delilah smiled slightly, unwrapping it to reveal a red, velvet box. She opened it and was met with a sterling silver necklace with a 'D' on it, encrusted with diamonds. Seeing it made her let out an involuntary gasp.

"Lucas, this is- wow... It's beautiful. Thank you so much."

"I also have a question for you."

He took the necklace and Delilah turned around, moving her hair out of the way while Lucas carefully clasped the chain around her neck.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" he asked quietly.

She turned back to look at him, cheeks a light pink.

"What?"
