Afterglow- Steve Rogers

Part 2

Steve stood in the bathroom rinsing the razor underneath the sink. He placed his hands on the edge of the sink looking at his reflection in the mirror.

The circles under Steve's eyes seemed to grow darker and darker and no amount of sleep could get rid of them. He let out a sigh and ran the cloth over his face wiping away the shaving cream.

The ground began to shake, Steve's brows furrowed in confusion and he grabbed the mirror to stop it from shaking as he looked around him.

A loud thump could be heard from outside and Steve quickly threw a shirt overtop his singlet and jogged outside.

Pepper and Nat running out to see the commotion. A ship was landed outside the compound, well more like crashed. A blonde woman was carrying Tony out of the ship.

"Tony" Pepper gasped.

Steve felt a pang of guilt hit his chest, Tony looked like shit. His cheek bones were sticking out and his skin was as white as a ghost.

Following behind the blonde was Nebula, Thanos's daughter.

"Pep" Tony said a small smile appearing on his face.

Pepper wrapped her arms around Tony and she buried her head into the crook of his neck.

Steve looked at them in jealousy, he should be reunited with his love. Not Tony, him. He wanted to have this heartwarming reunion with Y/n.

Tony looked over at Steve in a look which could only be described as hatred.

They quickly got Tony inside and hooked him up to an IV.

Rhodey turned on a hologram displaying the photos of all the fallen Avengers.

Y/n's face appeared and Steve's head dropped to the ground, looking away from the screen.

"I lost the kid" Tony sighed.

Peter, Tony felt personally responsible for Peter's death.

"We all lost people Tony" Steve said.

Tony looked up at Steve and furrowed his brows.

"What happened to fighting together huh? I said what if we lose and you said we'll do that together but we lost and you weren't there" Tony hissed.

He wasn't angry, no Tony was upset.

He stood up out of the wheelchair infront of Steve.Rhodey rushing over to stop him.

"We have nothing on Thanos, zero, zip, nada" He spoke to the team.

He then turned to face Steve.

"No trust, liar" He then removed his arc reactor stuffing it into Steve's hand before collapsing back into the chair.

Steve looked down at the blue reactor in shock. Rhodey took the arc reactor out of Steve's hands and placed it back on Tony's chest before wheeling him off to Pepper.

Carol then began to walk out of the room.

"Where are you going?" Steve asked.

"I'm off to kill Thanos" She said.

"We lost last time" Thor chimed in.

"Well you didn't have me last time" She said cockily.

Steve looked over to Natasha in confusion and she shrugged.

They all suited up and got into the ship, Carol flying towards Thanos's location which thankfully Nebula provided to them.

"Who hasn't been to space before?" Carol asked.

Half of the team lifted there hands up and looked back at her.

"Well good luck" She chuckled.

Steve nodded and pulled the compass out of his pocket looking down at the photo of him and Y/n.

"It'll work" Natasha assured him.

"It has to, because I don't know what I'll do if it doesn't" Steve sighed closing the compass.

Natasha gave Steve a small smile and took a seat next to the blonde as the ship speed off.

They stopped outside a brightly coloured planet.

"Thanos is down there" Thor spoke looking down.

"How do we know if he's there alone?" Natasha asked.

"He will be" Nebula replied in confidence.

"I'll check" Carol said.

She speed off around the planet before returning a few seconds later.

"He's all alone" She spoke.

They landed and walked across the grassy flat planet. They saw a wooden shack in the distance.

"He's there" Carol said.

They entered the shack to see Thanos washing vegetables. Carol leapt forward capturing the mad titan in a headlock.

Steve spotted the gauntlet on the floor empty.

"Where are the stones?" Steve shouted.

"Gone" Thanos managed to gasp out.

"What?" Natasha asked.

"There gone, reduced to atoms" Thanos grunted.

Carol loosened her grip around Thanos's neck letting him go.

"What have you done?" Thor screamed.

Thanos let out a laugh.

"I fulfilled my purpose for the stones, I don't need them anymore" Thanos chuckled.

Steve felt himself boil over with anger, he tightened the strap of his shields and swung it towards Thanos's neck slicing it open.

The mad titan wasn't so tough without the stones.

Steve looked down at the Wakandan shields now stained with Thanos's blood. The titan gasped for air and he grabbed his neck as blood spilled out. He panted heavily, anger being the only thing he could feel.

Thor then grabbed his axe swinging it across slicing Thanos's head clean off.

"I went for the head" Thor spoke before exiting the shack.

The rest followed except for Steve and Natasha.

"Steve" Natasha said looking up at him.

She had never seen Steve like this. This angry

"I don't want to talk about it" He huffed before taking one last look at Thanos and exiting the shack.
