You wouldn't wake up in that type of intimate state with Hitoshi for a while after his birthday. Which was oddly comforting, it reminded you of what it was like in the dorms. Enjoying each other's companionship before bed and not just your bodies.

Over the many days between his 20th birthday and the joint birthday party, you spent your time doing some real vacation shit instead. Days filled with water fights at the beach, visiting the local zoo, and even zip lining. But it wouldn't be a trip if there wasn't someone either: missing, injured, or crying by the end of it. Luckily it wasn't the first option and you hoped to keep it that way, and the third had already been checked off the bucket list. Which left the second to be up for grabs.

And unlucky enough, this one wasn't as easily avoidable. Especially the day of the group's planned hiking trip. Nothing too extreme, just a beach trail that got a bit rocky near the end before leading to a semi submerged sea cave. It wasn't well known, but Hitoshi and his parents had discovered it a few years ago, and he'd never had problems with it before.

But of course when the group of foreign, college student, tourists come to check it out, something goes wrong. The first half was tame, the sky was blue and everybody was comfortable. But as the rocks began to show, and the ground became more slick, hazards began to appear.

Unknown to all of you, that you all that this hike was planned right as the tide was starting to go down. Which means the closer you got to shore, the wetter the ground you stood on got. It started with a few minor slips or balance checks. But since there weren't major hills or caverns, you all weren't too concerned.

That is until one section right before the caves entrance. It was a path of jagged stepping stones, freshly awakened by sea water. Hitoshi went first to show how to get over, he was fine. After him was Bakugou, then Kiri and Mina. You went after them and next was Hanta. That's when things didn't go quite as planned.

On the first few he was perfectly fine, but one wrong move in the middle caused his left foot to slide from underneath him. As you saw his tanned face have a sudden realization, your gaze moved towards his footing. A somewhat large gash on his ankle from wedging in between two sharp rocks upon landing, and bruising of purple and green starting to show beside it.

"Shit, Hanta!" Everyone began to go into nurse mode. As quickly as possible, trying to get them out from between the pile of rocks. It took about 5 minutes to get everyone back over and out of the ragged path. No longer thinking about the swimming cave, but the gushing blood leaving Hantas lower calf.

"Kiri, get a cloth to put around his cut to stop the bleeding and make sure to tie it fairly tight. But wash it off with some of our water before covering it. Bakugou and Kami, after he does that we are gonna carry him back to the house. And try to keep his foot elevated. Love, call my uncle and tell him to come to the house, he's an ex-marine doctor, so just tell him it's an emergency. And Mina, be there for moral support and a hand to hold. They're gonna need it." Hitoshi seemed to know exactly what to do, it makes sense since his dad is a doctor. But you'd never really seen him this demanding before.

You weren't sure how much time passed between the call, the hike, and the walk back home. But somehow you all made it with the sun still high up in the sky. And when you arrived, Uncle Shota was already there with what looked like a briefcase from the 50's.

"Put him down and let me look at him." He was serious and gruff. It was obvious he knew what he was doing, you could tell by the way he carried himself. When he opened his case it was filled with medical tools. "Okay tell me what happened." As you gave him the briefing he simply nodded and grunted while he examined Hanta.

"We'll the good news is you have me, so you won't have to pay medical bills, and nothing seems to be broken. But the bad news is that you will need stitches for the gash and crutches because your ankle is sprained pretty badly." He continued, but some of his words were covered in suppressed screams from Hanta while Shota cleaned his cut.

"So you can do all of that for us which is cool. But doesn't that mean we won't have anything to numb the pain while you do it?" Kaminari actually brought up a good point, it was great to avoid the hospital bill that would have added up from this; but what about the pain killers?

"That's part of the bad news. You would have to make do with over the counter tylenol or ibuprofen and numbing cream. That's the best I can do for you."

"Shit, fine, just do it. I don't feel like paying 10,000 dollars on an ER visit today, thanks!" You felt bad, here was your friend, who had just been biting down on a blanket while squeezing your best friend's hand, after an accident he can't even get properly treated for; compromising for his best financial interest. Such a sad reality for people nowadays.

"Okay, I'm not sure you guys aren't exactly gonna want to see this. I'll let one person stay to help him mentally with the pain. Everyone else stays out until I say so."

"I'll stay, this isn't the first time I've had to see shit like this." Hitoshi volunteered himself, and no one argued. It wasn't the time for it, even if they wanted to.

More than anything you hoped Hanta would be okay. But one thing lingered in your mind; just what did Hitoshi mean by 'he's seen this shit before.'
