UNIVERSAL POINT OF VIEW:
It's early morning. The water rolls along the sandy shore pulling in and out. The tide reaches far up the land, only to be sucked back in to the watery depths of the ocean.
"Come on in guys!" yells host, Jeff Probst, as six shabby looking castaways walk down the shore. They walk slow and staggered, being effected by the attrociously hot and muggy morning tempretures and the feeling of eating very little the past thirty-two days.
The castaways approach Jeff and they notice six small podiums, each individually coloured.
They line up in front of him and await their instructions
"Morning everyone" Jeff beams
"Mornin' Jeff" they all rumble back
"First things first, Bennett, I'm going to need to take back the immunity necklace" Jeff says approaching Bennett. He unclips it from behind and takes it back over to the stand. It hands around the wooden frame luxuriously, the ferns and feathers it is decorated in flow calmly and relaxingly in the wind
"Alrighty" Jeff smiles, "in today's challenge, we're going to test your memory"
Mora's head falls down, thirty-two days out here, your mind is fuzzy and memory is a long lost dream. This challenge will definitely challenge the castaway mentally
"I'm going to show you a series of symbols, and you will repeat them back to me using a cube. The cube has one symbol on it per face. If you get the series right, you stay alive, if you get it wrong, you are out of the challenge. Last person left standing wins immunity, safe at tonight's Tribal Council. Losers, go to Tribal Council where someone will be voted out of this game and become the fifth member of the jury" Jeff instructs, "take your spots, we'll get started"
Everyone walks behind a podium and examines their cube. They look at the six faces and the six symbols; fish, boat, fern, shell, mask and torch
Everyone finishes looking, and looks up at Jeff, ready to begin.
"Okay... Torch... Fern... Mask... Ship... Fish... and Boat" Jeff calls shows the group, "I'll now ask you to repeat"
They all scramble around their cube
"Show me the first item" Jeff says, and everyone shows torch. "Everyone says torch, that is correct"
"Show me the second item" Jeff instructs, and everyons shows fern, except for Mora who shows a mask. "Correct answer was fern, everyone is in, excpet Mora. Come take a seat on the bench"
"Third item" Jeff says, and everyone shows a correctly guessed mask, as well as the forth item, everyone guesses correctly showing a ship
"Reveal the fifth item" Jeff says, everyone reveals the fish except Bennett who shows the boat. "The correct answer is fish, Bennett, you are out of the challenge. Take a seat on the bench"
For the sixth reveal, everyone correctly shows the boat.
"Okay, that is the end of round one! Erika, Harrison, Kate and Courtney, you have all made it to round two" Jeff announces. Everyone left in the game lets out a huge sigh of relief. They all look at each other completely bamboozled by the challenge.
"This round, there will be seven items, you ready?" Jeff smiles
"Not really!" Harrison bites his lip, to which everyone smiles at, to focused to laugh.
"Alright, Torch... boat... mask... boat... fish... torch... mask" Jeff reads out, slowly so the castaways can dictate
"I'll ask for the first item" Jeff says, and everyone shows torch. Jeff smiles happily, "everyone says torch, which is the correct answer"
"Second item" Jeff states, everyone shows boat, except for Kate, who shows boat. Immediately as Kate looks at everyone elses, she knows she is wrong and shakes her head. "Correct answer is boat, Kate you already know your wrong"
Kate nods aprehensively as she walks away from her podium and takes a seat on the bench next to Bennett and Mora
Courtney, Harrison and Erika as stand still behind their podiums, trying to not get distracted and continue replaying the same pattern in their head. They can't afford to lose focus, not now. Not when there is such little amount of days left, and immunity is the only thing guarenteeing their safety.
"Next item" Jeff says. Courtney breaths through gritted teeth as she shows the mask, but automatically feels better when she looks at Erika and Harrison who confidently reveal a mask. "Mask, is correct!"
"Fourth item" Jeff says, "now starting to get a bit trickier. You have to really think about what you saw and how confident you are that it is what you saw"
Once again, Courtney shakes her head, wondering if what she reveals is correct. Harrison also is unsure, but tries not to show it in his face. Erika looks blankly at the cube, until she finds what she is looking for
"Reveal" Jeff instructs and each of them flash their cube
"Courtney shows torch, Erika and Harrison show boat. Who is correct?" Jeff asks rhetorically
Courtney smiles optimistically, hoping that she could have just aced the competition
"That correct answer is boat, Harrison and Erika live on, Courtney... you are out. Take a seat on the bench" Jeff says. Courtney walks away, with her head down
"Two left, Harrison and Erika, show the fifth item" Jeff tells
Quickly and confidently Erika holds up her cube, Harrison taking his time, calmly looking at all sides of the cube. He closes his eyes and repeats the pattern in his head. After a moment of thinking, Harrison flashes his cube
"Erika holds up fish, Harrison holds up torch" Jeff says. The duo look at each other and smile
"One person is right, one person is wrong. One person will be winning immunity, one will go tonight, to Tribal Council, unprotected. The correct answer is...." Jeff pauses
Erika and Harrison look nervous and Jeff stares at them mischeviously with the answer in his head. He looks at them teasing them with his knowlege.
"The correct answer is fish!" Jeff says, "Erika wins immunity!"
Harrison throws his cube away, upset and so close. Erika however, her jaw drops. Amazed she won a challenge, she jumps up and down, laughing and smiling joyfully.
"I won!" she cries. She runs up to Harrison and hugs Harrion humbly.
"Congrats darl!" he says to her
***
Everyone regroups around the green, tribe mat and can't help but be happy to see Erika recieve immunity. No matter how down people feel about losing, it is amazing to see Erika take it out.
Jeff stands next to the stand that the immunity necklaces glistens on, and he says, "Erika come recieve your immunity"
Still completely gobsmacked in her achievements, Erika walks up to Jeff. He places the necklace around her neck and places his hand on her shoulder.
"Erika, is safe at tonights Tribal Council, as for the rest of you. One of you will be going home and be the fifth member of our jury. You'll have the rest of the afternoon to think about who that is going to be. Grab your stuff, head back to camp" Jeff says
As the tribe walks away, minds already begin working, like clogs in a machine. Who is the biggest threat right now? Everyone is so powerful in their own way, that taking anyone out with have major side effects, but keeping the wrong people in, the side effects will be even worse.
