Gbemi had just finished her last test in the staffroom, and she smiled before submitting the sheet of paper; the teachers might not even mark it. They will give her the mark, perks of being a teacher's pet. Stepping out of the staffroom, Gbemi felt all the tension in her body disappear; it was time to immerse herself in the ongoing inter-house sports preparations.
Gbemi hadn't taken two steps before she saw students running towards the field, and all she was hearing was "Senior Dunmininu dey fight." She started running along to see why Dunmininu was fighting. Dunmininu rarely fought in school, and no one dared cross him too. Gbemi got to the field, and she saw a large crowd formed; she managed to find her way to the front by bouncing some of her juniors from the crime scene. She was shocked to see Dunmininu wiping blood from his mouth with his handkerchief. A furious senior Godwin stood in front of him, looking like he would rather kill him.
"Godwin, I don't want to fight you, honestly. Talk to your babe. I don't have anything to do with her. If she's dumping you because she thinks she likes me, maybe you should talk that with her. fighting with me doesn't even make any sense; if you're looking for who to fight, maybe you should fight the poles or anything." Dunmininu replied while shaking his head, and senior Godwin scoffed. He took menacing steps towards Dunmininu, who kept on stepping back as if he was trying to avoid getting into a fight with him.
"Come on, you coward. Come at me like a man. That's why that junior girl dumped your sorry ass," senior Godwin spat, and Dunmininu threw his handkerchief to Senior Bassey before rushing towards senior Godwin; he delivered the first blow to his face. Senior Godwin took two steps back, staggering. Dunmininu didn't wait for him to recover before he delivered four punches to his face in quick succession. Before senior Godwin could recover, he kicked his legs, knocking him to the ground. He was about to deliver another punch to his face when Senior Bassey held his hands before pulling him away from Senior Godwin, who looked like he was run over by a train.
"for your life Godwin, If you disrespect my babe again. I kill you ajeh. You no go try am again if I finish with you. Bastard," Dunmininu spat before turning around, and The crowd that came to watch the fight started dispersing while murmuring about the conflict. Slowly everyone went back to their houses to continue the sports practice.
Gbemi ran after Dunmininu, She wanted to make sure he was okay, and when Bassey saw her, he handed over his handkerchief and water bottle to her. Dunmininu smiled at her, and she shook her head. None of them said anything o each other, and they continued walking. Bassey turned back to continue coordinating his housemates that were jumping.
Dunmininu held Gbemi's hands, and he didn't say anything. He felt at peace at the way they were walking about with no worries around them. They made a turn towards the library, and Gbemi smiled to herself. They were going to the library upstairs to talk maybe and settle things hopefully. He swiped his access card as usual, and they walked in together. He stayed back, and he locked the door. He set it to deny any other access; he didn't want anyone walking in on them.
Gbemi looked around, the whole place hadn't changed from what it used to be, and she smiled at herself. Her memories of this place aren't that pleasant, but thankfully they were past that. She didn't want to dwell on the past for too long. She had already made up her mind to take him back, and that's for the best. He might not be perfect, but at least he genuinely cares.
"Why did Senior Godwin come for you?" She asked as soon as they sat down, but instead of answering, he pulled her to his lap, and he nuzzled his nose in her neck. She pushed his head away before cradling it in her hands and she stared at him. "how was your test?" He asked instead of answering but Gbemi wasn't ready to back down. "I believed I asked a question from a human shaa unless you are a donkey" She replied and he groaned. He should have known Gbemi won't drop it."I wanted to help coordinate marching today and we were already having fun till Godwin just showed up. I even thought he wanted to join us and I was even joking with him calling him our king. The list hasn't been finalized yet though but heads up we appeared on it. I didn't want to tell you. So next thing, I just saw that he removed his hoodie and he was cranking his knuckles, I should've suspected that he was coming to fight since Tofunmi threatened me this morning but My mind wasn't even there. You know Tofunmi came to meet me this morning after food and she was like she heard me and Gbemi already settled things. I was like and so? so she was now like she's sorry for all the time she toyed with my feelings that she didn't know I was being honest. So I told her that it's all in the past that I don't even really care. She was like she would make everything right again and she was going to end things with Godwin. I thought she was joking and I waved her off. I didn't even have the energy to continue talking to her plus the whole place was becoming empty. I don't want a repetition of the last time anymore. The next thing, Godwin said I'm getting together with Tofunmi and I asked her to dump him, I was shocked. I was even trying to explain to him guy to guy but this nigga wasn't even having any of it. Next thing, He threw a punch at me, I was even telling him I don't want to fight him. That's how he said some trash and I lost it. I just had to beat him" He said and Gbemi touched his mouth and he pouted.
Gbemi pressed her lips to his and he kissed her back. He pulled her closer and he encircled his hands around her waist. After battling tongues for a few minutes, They disentangled their tongues. They stopped kissing and they placed their foreheads on each other. Dunmininu kept on staring at her like she was gold.
"Gbemi, Please give us another chance. Please allow me to prove to you how much I love you"He begged and Gbemi nodded. Relief flooded his eyes and he pressed her closer to his body. She wrapped her arms around him and they were together like that for quite a while.
