Is it just me or does his voice sound oddly different?
“Star! Oh, I’ve missed you my dear ‘girlfriend’!”
Yeah, you heard that right. Josh was not just a friend or an acquaintance, he was my boyfriend.
My one and only boyfriend.
We’ve met in high school, he was the school jock and I was the school nerd. He asked me out and surprisingly, I said yes. We’ve gone out for almost a year and guess what, we never even locked lips.
He was really sweet, kind and he always know how to make me smile even on my worst days.
He would kiss me on the cheek, on the forehead and my favorite, he would kiss my hand before we part ways.
Aaahhh.. High school romance.
Gosh! I missed him.
We broke up because it was better that we remain good friends than strangers if something goes wrong along the way and although we may try our hardest to resist the problems, it will eventually succeed in breaking two perfectly good people apart. It was a mutual thing, we talked about ‘us’ and decided that we would rather have each other than lose ourselves in creating the power couple that we would then become while breaking our individual selves.
He was the perfect gentleman.. too perfect. It was hard to let him go but we were young. And we made a pact that if both of us are single when we turn 27, we would marry each other; I would marry my best friend and it was a perfect promise.
He was more of my best friend than my boyfriend, though.
We remain good friends but we lost contact when I moved to study a few years back. And now he’s here, in front of me.
Without even thinking, I jumped him and hugged him tight with my legs on his waist. He stiffened but then hugged me back after a few seconds.
“Joshie! I missed you so much! It’s been so long, too long in fact! I’m never letting you go again! NEEEVVEEEER!”
Giggling while holding me in place, “I see that the same old Starry is still there, my Starry.” He sighed and continued with a soft and calming voice, “I missed you Starry, my shining shimmering Star.”
Finally letting him go, I had the chance to look him up and down. He’s so posh and fashionable. He looks so great and wait.. gay?
He then noticed my jumbled look and laughed heartily which made me more confused.
“Before you bombard me with your silly questions, let me do the talking first”, I nodded and he continued with an amused tone. “First, yes. I am gay, very gay. Second, I own this boutique.” And suddenly, realization came.
Ofcourse this boutique is his and it’s in the most obvious name: Be Fierce with J.C. Pierce. How can I be so stupid?Uugggh.
Noticing my realization, he went on. “Third, I love you. You are the only girl that I have every loved in my entire life, aside from my mother.” We both laughed with this one. “Lastly, no. I wasn’t gay when we dated. I found out that I was ‘special’ when I studied fashion in Paris and that was months after you moved.”
“Ooooh.” Was all I could muster.
He smiled and hugged me again. “My beautiful Star., I missed you. Let’s not part anymore, ‘kay?”
I nodded with a smile.
“Star?”
“Hmmm?”
