“Hey piglet! Stop moaning! It’s disturbing!” my best friend yelled beside me.

I can’t believe that I was just enjoying my food ‘too’ much.

Blushing, I murmured a sorry but continued eating. Silently.

He rolled his eyes with a smile while Alex and Steffi were giggling at each other. Joshie noticed that I was looking at the love birds and said with adoring eyes, “aren’t they sweet?”

I scoffed and muttered, “Too sweet.”

“You’re just jealous,” he said with amusement in his voice and by now, was looking at me.

“Am not,” denial in my voice and continued eating.

He looked at me intently and sighed. After a long silence, he said with a voice almost impossible for me to hear, “I’m sorry, Starr.”

I looked at him with shock and confusion, I was about to ask why but he beat me to it, “I’m sorry I can’t give you that,” gesturing to Steffi and Alex. “I love you with all of my heart, babe, but this is me. This is who I am and I can’t change it even if I wanted to. I just can’t..”

I stopped him before he could say what he wanted to voice out, “No. Don’t be sorry, Josh. None of these is your fault. Being single is neither your fault nor mine. It’s just meant to be, you know. And I’m thankful that I met you still as a man,” he laughed and finally looked at me, “you are the only man who made me feel loved and I still feel the same. Not as a girl would love a boy romantically, but as a girl who loves her best friend. I love you, Josh, and nothing can ever change that. We may not fulfill a promise we made years ago but that’s alright, you need your happy ending, too. You may end up with a man yourself but I would still love you. Don’t forget that, okay?” I finished with a smile.

He grinned and pulled me into a hug, “I know and I will always be here for you, my sweet Starr.”

I let go of him and looked into his eyes, “Thank you. I know I could always count on you and don’t worry, our prince will come,” I laughed and hugged him again.

“Yep. And Starr,” he said letting go again.

“Go get a room,” Alex’ voice interrupted our moment.

Giving him a pointed look, I told him to shut up as he held his hands up in silent surrender. I smirked. He has always been scared of me. He should be because if I saw a single tear fall down my sister’s eyes, I will kick him where the sun doesn’t shine.

I looked back at Josh and gestured for him to continue.

He looked nervous as he scratched the back of his neck but, eventually, voiced, “Isortahaveaboyfriend.”

He said too fast that I even didn’t understand a word, “What was that?”

He rolled his eyes but nervousness still evident in his eyes, “I said, Isortahaveaboyfriend.”

“Joshie, all I could hear is, ‘aychochachahcucha’.”

“What the hell, Starr! I said, I SORTA HAVE A BOYFRIEND!”

“Finally, something I can understand! So, you sorta have a boyfrieeee.. Wait, what??”

He blushed and looked scared with my sudden outburst but was shocked when I hugged him.

“Wow! That’s great! I’m so happy for you, Joshie!”

“Huh? So, yo-you’re not mad?” he asked stuttering.

I rolled my eyes with a smile, “Ofcourse not, silly! Why would I? Why haven’t I met him yet? When can I meet him? What’s his name? What does he looks like? How did you meet? Tell me everything!” I said with excitement. I can’t help but bombard him with questions. I’m just so happy for him.

“Hey, girl! Hold your horses! He’s name is Mike, a fashion designer, too, and he’s a year older than I am. We met in New York for fashion week and we became a couple a year ago when he came here and asked me out. He’ll be moving here next week.” He finally gave me the info about his beau. I was smiling like a crazy 1D fan but something popped in my head.

“Mike? Mike Smith? The Mike Smith?” I asked befuddled.

He nodded still smiling like an idiot. He’s so happy that I can’t help but smile, too.

“No way! What a small world!”

He raised his perfectly shaped eyebrow for me to continue, “I mean, I know Mike. I have worked with him and we remained good friends even after the contract. He did mention a ‘Josh’ as his boyfriend but I didn’t realize that it was my Josh. Oh, God! I’m so happy for you two! You really make a cute couple!”

“Uhhm. Thank you, Starr! That really means a lot!” finishing his sentence with a hug.

I kissed his cheek and whispered in his ear, “you deserve to be happy Josh. I want to see you happy and you are. Mike is my friend, too, but if he would ever try to hurt you, I would cut his dingdong, throw it into the ocean and never look back.”

He laughed hysterically with my threat, “I knew you would say that and that’s why I need you in my life, babe.”

We, finally, let go and continue eating our cakes while Steffi and Alex were eating each other’s face. Eeeewww.

Now, it was my turn to say, “Guys, get a room!”

They turned their heads at me, smiled and stood up at the same time while mumbling, “Gladly!”

With eyeballs almost plopping out of my eyes, I stood up and gestured for them to sit back down.

“But you said..” Steffi whined.

Blushing, I answered instantly, “Oh, I know what I said!”

With that, the three of them were laughing hard that made me more uncomfortable.

“Yeah, yeah, keep laughing at the virgin,” I said irritably.

When I thought that they would stop and apologize, I was mistaken. Instead, they laughed harder that I could see tears fall of Alex’ eyes.

Now, I am beyond irritated; I am furious. I stood up which got their attention, walked to the assistant manager with a forced smile and said, “My choice would be the triple chocolate cake. It was incredibly delicious, thank you. You may ask them what flavor they want but I bet you fifty dollars that my choice will be picked,” I finished with a wink as she giggled and nodded.

I stood at the door and looked at the three of them with my deadliest glare until my eyes landed on Alex who, if I’m not mistaken, just swallowed hard and shivered lightly. I gave him a pointed look before saying, “I assume that you will take Stefanie home before 10pm?”

I raised my eyebrow while waiting for his response. Finally, he nodded. “Good,” I said before heading out. I heard Steffi call my name but I was not in the mood to hear her out so I climbed my truck and headed home.

I wanna take a swim.

The ocean has always been my happy place. Guess I’ll be going surf boarding this afternoon.

Great. Just as I thought that this day has been going great for me but I was wrong. It was going too great that it was impossible and improbable. Anyways, the water is my relaxation pill so I’ll be bright and shiny, again. Ugh, I can’t wait to be in the ocean.

Wait for me, my deep blue sea.
