Starry's POV
I returned inside our home and went straight to look for my father and found him in his home office still talking on his phone.
Once he saw me standing on his doorway, he mouthed 'one moment', I just nodded while I sat opposite him and scrolling through my phone to check some emails.
"I'll see you tomorrow, jerk," he finished his conversation with a laugh.
I lifted my head to look at him while he places his phone on his desk still with a gleam in his eyes. He, then, realizes that I'm still waiting for him to start our chat and cleared his throat and smiled at me.
"Sweetie.." he started.
I eyed him cautiously and motioned him to continue so he did, "I wanted to talk to you about the towers."
I started to open my mouth to interrupt him but he raised his hand asking me to stop, "Listen to me first, sweetie. Please?" he pleaded so I nodded my head.
"So, about the towers.. I know you have a great life ahead of you even without our help and our businesses and know that I am very proud of you, Starr. You've grown to be a very beautiful and respected woman and for that I'm so so proud," he said with teary and loving eyes with a soft smile plastered on his proud face.
"But I would really like to talk to you about my position. I may not be retiring yet but anything can happen and I can't entrust my hard work with other people when I have two beautiful, smart and amazing daughters that could take them."
My heart begun to pound harder inside my chest as I wait for my father to go on.
"So, what I'm trying to say is I would like to train both of you and Steff with everything needed to handle all our companies."
"W-what?!" my eyes literally popped out of my sockets. Maybe not literally, but close. Oh! I know you get it!
The old man, well, maybe not that old, he's still on his early fifties so yeah, just chuckled at my reaction and continued anyway, "I know you have a job and you're not giving that up so how about we compromise?"
Still, I was in shock so all I could do is nod for him to continue because I sure want to know what his 'compromise' is.
"How about we go through this training in a slow pace and if you're ready to take over, I'll give you a gift that I know you'll love?" Daddy asks with a huge smile which confuses me.
He knows I love my job; I've been working my ass off to get where I am today and he would want me to give it up just for a gift that he'll think I'll love?! Don't get me wrong, I love my daddy and his companies but I can't just turn back on something that I have sweat and worked so hard for. I wanted to open my mouth, again, but my dad interrupted me, again.
"Don't you wanna know what my gift would be, Sweetie?"
I groan in frustration and rolled my eyes. Why is he so persistent on this gift anyway?! I sigh, giving up and turned to him, "Okay, okay. So what is this 'gift', daddy?"
He eyed me pointedly, 'Can't you be enthusiastic about this? Even for a little bit? Even with fake enthusiasm?" he finished with a pout and puppy dog eyes.
I giggled, my dad looks so cute which somehow broke my slight annoyance with the matter at hand.
I rolled my eyes and smiled sweetly at him, "Fine. I'm sorry daddy. What gift would you give me?"
