The sun.
It's what gives life to everything around. Without the sun, there would be no such thing as a solar system, and Earth. The sun allows flora to harness its light and create oxygen to feed everything else, fauna to roam freely under the warmth of it, and mankind to flourish.
The heat and blue sky of noon, to a cooler temperature and the warm colors such as red, orange, and purple blending into one as the sun sets, to the dark black sky it left behind as the sun went to sleep, letting the moon watch over.
What would happen, if one day, everything about it suddenly changes? Instead of giving life, it gives destruction and death. Flora decomposing, no longer able to feed oxygen, fauna completely rotting due to not being able to adjust to such a rapid change, and society falling apart. It's a horrifying thought, how what was meant to be the something that made Earth and life itself, corrupt and destroy absolutely everything.
Mankind was taught to embrace the light and fear the dark.
However what if it was the other way around?

The year is 2021. A 21 year old brunette was calmly reheating up the leftover pizza she got from a gas station, sure it may be unhealthy but it's a good way to save money. Gas station food had always been pretty cheap anyway. After it was done, she made her way to the couch and slowly ate the pizza as some children show was playing on the old TV.
Her apartment was.. shabby. She came from a slightly poor background, she was lucky that she got a scholarship and was doing fine in college. She didn't have to worry about paying for college at least, just her apartment and she had to work several part-time jobs for it.
A blonde girl, seemingly younger than her, got out of the bedroom and rubbed her eyes as she adjusted to the light.
"Jen?"
Jennie turned around at the sudden call of her name, slightly tilting her head and a small smile made its way across her face.
"Chae? Seriously? It's already 2PM and you just woke up?"
The blonde only smiled back, her eyes finally adjusted as she sat on the couch. "We stayed up until midnight to watch several pirated movies, you can't blame me for waking up this late." Chaeyoung yawned.
The two were from complete opposites in terms of background, while Jennie came from dirt and had to do several different odd jobs just to be able to even afford breakfast, Chaeyoung only needed to breathe and all of the sudden she would be in a 5 star restaurant or an all-you-can-eat buffet with the most expensive food.
However, despite stereotypes defining all rich people as snobs who couldn't care less about someone as low-class as Jennie, Park Chaeyoung was completely different. The girl had been Jennie's first close friend, someone who wasn't just using the brunette for good grades then abandoning her.
Chaeyoung was kind, innocent, and wouldn't dare to hurt a fly. The two had met by pure chance, Jennie accidentally spilling hot chocolate right onto Chaeyoung's face, and thankfully the brunette didn't get beat up, instead Chaeyoung forgave her in a blink of an eye.
The younger girl was currently staying over at Jennie's apartment for the weekend, it was like a tradition between them. Every weekend, one would stay over at another's place for the entire weekend. Chaeyoung didn't mind staying at Jennie's cramped and dirty apartment, she knew how hard it was for the girl.
The current world's situation isn't so great either. Scientists have made a global announcement a few months ago, the world was about to end due to a strange astronomical event. Governments all over the world had panicked, the "event" isn't currently well-known, but scientists have written a basic explanation, and what people should do.
