SOME TYPE OF LOVE
:: xvii, still undecided

May 11

It's been a week and Isabelle has not yet read one letter since then. All she's been doing is going about her life and last week was a bit odd. Her ex was at her door asking to get back together. Now she was getting ready for coffee with him to discuss their possible future which she isn't sure she still wants.

The clock turned noon when she finally made it out the door to head to Starbucks. For some weird reason, she was actually nervous talking to him. She realized when she felt like that, it was because she was feeling all of those things again. Those first time things that you only get when you're about to go on a date.

No this wasn't a date, she knew that. She just couldn't help those feelings. Butterflies in her stomach, nausea, wondering about what-ifs. You know, the top one— nervousness.

Starbucks wasn't that far so she thought she would walk, get her steps in. Once she approached, she looked through the big glass windows and saw him sitting at a table in the corner. He was early which only made her more nervous. In the back of her mind, she couldn't help but think about Emma and how much of a difference it would be if she were with a girl.

She still stood there, staring through the glass at him. One decision could change everything. She could either go in and maybe it'll work out, if that's what she wants or go home and pick up all those unread letters that was sent from Emma. She was confused, she didn't know what she wanted after all. But I'm that moment . . . she did now. She knew what she wanted right then and there. And so, she turned on her heels and began to walk home.

She wanted the fantasy, the letters. She wanted Emma. She walked that ten minute walk back to her apartment. She threw her things on her couch and then went to grab the key to open that one drawer where she keeps Emma's letters. She opened the drawer with a smile, took them out and then just sat there— on the floor.

She started to read all the letters she had missed. Then she finally read the recent one. Emma was going to stop writing, she couldn't take that someone wasn't writing back but someone was, Isabelle just wasn't sending them. After she read the letter, her heart shattered and she couldn't help but think maybe she made a bad decision. Maybe she should've gone into Starbucks to reconcile with Dylan after all.
