Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
The sound of water dripping filled my ears as my sight was blocked, covered by a thick black cloth.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
I moved my leg, just by an inch, but I hissed out in pain as the scars on my leg burned, as if knives pressed onto a sharp scar. I laid on my back, praying that the pain wouldn't sting for long. The smell of rusting metal and wet soil filled the air.
"Quiet!" A voice yelled, followed by a bang that echoed throughout the small room. Seems like whoever the person is, they're hitting metal with an object, it made my ears ring. "You are forbidden from making any further movements" The same voice yelled, sounding sterner. I thought of humming in obedience, but my voice was no longer working. The slight attempt of me answering back was in vain as I felt the pain in my throat. If I were to say something, I'm sure I would only manage out a small squeak.
I'm thirsty, I need water. Where am I? What am I doing here?
"Enough, there's no need to threaten the prisoner, go back"
A voice different from before said, somehow a hint of gentleness rings in his commanding tone. I hear footsteps walk away, followed by a short mutter of annoyance, a creak from the door was heard. Someone was leaning on the door.
"Are you thirsty?"
The voice asked. Without being cautious anymore as I am desperate for my life, I used my remaining energy to nod. A few seconds after, I heard the door slide open. It sounds like a cell door, old and rusty. The footsteps of the other person were heard, loud. It's almost like he's making sure I don't see it as creeping up on me.
"I can't open your blindfold.." he said gently as I feel the person sit down in front of me. "I could see your lips were chapped and dry, I figured you could use a drink..."
I hear water being poured, then a gentle hand on my neck. I flinched without realizing it, the hand backed away. "I'm just trying to give you some water..." the voice said, I could feel something brushing against my lips. Without hesitation, I leaned forward allowing my lips to lay on the side of what felt like a small bowl. The bowl moved upwards allowing water to pour into my mouth, I drank slowly, not wanting to choke on it.
"Do you want more?" the voice asked as I felt the bowl pull away, I nodded in response. I felt like an animal being treated like this, but knowing someone was helping me drink wasn't that much of a pain. Two, three times I drank. Swallowing up the water that I was given, freshwater, most likely taken from the lake nearby. I felt my voice coming back. But I decided to remain silent, not knowing whether I should thank him or not. I don't know why I'm here, a kind gesture isn't something I'm concerned about.
"I'll check in on you later on.." the voice said, I heard a little rustle before his light footsteps stepped away. The door, once again closing, a lock echoed as it was pushed in.
I could hear the footsteps start to walk away, but before I could say anything, the footsteps indicated he was too far for my voice to reach him. I decided to stay quiet.
I couldn't even ask where I was, maybe it was better to stay quiet. In the darkness again, I felt my eyes tear up. I don't know where I am, but I'm tied up, this place smells like rusting metal. The pain on my ankles returned, further pushing me to the edge of tears.
What happened to me?
Before the thoughts in my head stayed for long, I fell asleep. Tired, drained and confused, not a good feeling. I leaned on my side, sleeping with my hands and legs locked As I drifted into sleep, the only voice that I could hear and remember was that stern gentle voice.
"I'll check on you later on"
Stern but yet gentle.
I hope he comes back.
To check on me.
