"You let the prisoner escape?"
Fugaku's huge hands banged against the table as he looked at me in anger. At that moment the entire meeting table was all silent, from the tapping of a pen down to the loud breathing of the other cops, it all seemed to stop at once. The soft whirring of the fan above us was the only thing heard. At that moment I believed that I could possibly lose my job, let alone my head for the sake of his anger. The leaf village is known to have built this reputation in relation to the tight security which is given and managed by the Uchiha police,
"You could have held him back with the strength and the special training you were given" Fugaku continued, his eyes darted back to the wall behind me which holds together the schedule given by the Hokage. "You will be removed from the special divisions, Obito-"
"What?" I said, my voice almost yelling which startled almost everyone. "You're removing me? from the Special Division?" I asked, but I was quickly silenced by the stern look Fugaku gave me.
"I will not repeat the same mistake as I did with Itachi..."
Everyone's faces dropped as the mention of the forbidden topic was brought up by the chief police himself. "He was too kind for his own good, sternness is not within him and with the wrong influence, we turned hungry for power" Fugaku continued, for a moment he made me feel remorseful before he looked back at me. "Leave the division, I will assign you to a different one and do not fight me on this. I am your superior" he said, his voice enough to scare me. I decided it was wise to not put forward any other arguments at this moment and time.
But at that moment, a part of me did feel relieved. Along with a tad bit disappointed in myself...
For the failure of not being able to stop a forbidden jutsu user.

I sat up alone in my room as I stood by my window side again. The report for the Prisoner attack was released and within the report, it had stated that we had a few casualties. It was even more unfortunate that all the casualties were Uchiha themselves, all of which were essential to the clan. Haramuko Uchiha, Senji Uchiha and Monoki Uchiha. The three leading shinobi are in line for growth.
I'm not sure if I am the only one who has made a connection between the two, but the casualties were only those from the Uchiha clan, the Anbu black ops who came that night were only lightly injured. I keep on thinking about what Deidara has said and truthfully, but aside from that, I believe it was simply a fake confession to avoid admitting what he did.
But he looked so sincere.
I snap out of my thoughts before they turn wrong. By wrong, it refers to when my mind is convinced Deidara is right. Yes, Deidara wanted me to think of the Leaf this way, the very hell-hole which kept him in pain, it's no wonder he despises the Leaf Village. If not that, then it is probably because he has decided to convince me to come along with him. Which is another thing which has been a tempting thought that nests quietly in my head.
Come along with him? He didn't say it directly...but...
"Obito!"
I heard a voice from downstairs, I ran down and quickly unlocked the door. The voice was muffled, so I could not tell who it was. It was a delightful surprise to see Rin's smiling face at the door. I smiled as I pulled the door wide open. "Rin!" I exclaimed excitedly, though I felt weird about why she is here so late. "Hi! my mum made some food so I'm just here to deliver it," Rin said smiling, her perfectly aligned teeth on display. I nodded as I eyed the bento pack which was tied neatly held onto her hand, which she passed to me. "Do you want to come in for some tea?" I asked, stepping back as I gestured for her to come in. Deep down I know Rin might decline just as before, but up until now, it is a habit for me to ask just to be polite.
"It's getting late.." she said reluctantly but after a few seconds, she shrugged and said "why not.." as she stepped in, making herself at home. I looked her way in shock as I realised she actually agreed, after years of inviting her in. I excitedly closed the door and walked to the kitchen.
As I prepared the tea, I could feel Rin's eyes boring onto my back. Almost like a hawk eyeing its prey. 'Does she want something?' I thought to myself as I start to wonder quietly. Rin almost always comes over to give me food, but she never agrees to come in, she always implies that she is either busy or that it is late and she should be getting home.
"Obito, please don't feel bad"
Rin said as the sound of the boiling water filled the kitchen. "You did your best I'm sure," Rin said in her usual comforting voice. But the tone of her voice does not put me at ease nor does it bring me comfort. "Not good enough to the police it seems, I got demoted..." I said quietly as a small accepting smile formed on my face.
"Many died that night because I was there late.." I said quietly, knowing that my words will probably tense up the situation even more. This would probably make it harder on Rin than it is for me. I turned to see Rin staring at the kitchen table, nodding her head. She looked as if a cat got her tongue and within her unusual silence, I see that she is trying her best to comfort me. But then her face changed, her eyebrows furrowed, looking serious.
"You think it is your fault?"
Rin asked, as her fingers slowly tap on the kitchen table. Behind her serious face, her lips folded inwards as she looked nervous, very nervous. As if she was about to tell me something very serious.
I shrugged, still looking at Rin.
"Is it my fault?"
"Obito.." Rin said as she looked around. She gestured for me to come closer, her hand gripped onto my arm as she whispered.
"Can we talk somewhere more private?"
