Obito's POV
Obito Uchiha, that's the name I was given by my parents who both, are no longer with me and have passed on. I am from the Uchiha clan, here, you either become a shinobi or work with the Uchiha police as a guard for the village. Taking care of the harmony of a village, that's the job of normal policemen, I'm in a different division from the others, one which I had worked hard to get in.
The special division, we call it.
Here we deal with rare cases of stolen forbidden jutsu, we take care of other village affairs that are inclusive of their very own forbidden jutsu. This trust has been built after years of forming alliances with other villages such as villages from the mist, the stone, the cloud and the sand. The thing about a forbidden jutsu is that they are forbidden for good reason, such as the invention of the second Hokage, who invented the reanimation jutsu. Bringing back the dead is disrespectful to the shinobi law, hence why it is considered a forbidden jutsu. Well, all that aside, the police here aren't kind to the prisoners in hand.
Be it a kid, if they stole a forbidden jutsu, they are treated just as bad.
"Stop whatever you are doing Obito..." Fugaku, the head of the police department said sternly, I noticed his grip tightened on the chair. "I just gave him water..." I said defensively, noting that I had no other intentions. Giving him no food? That's bad enough. But no water? Do we need to be so heartless? We are imprisoning a human being.
"You don't want him to die do you?" I said, still defending my actions. Fugaku sighed, he turned to walk out, the frustration plastered all over his face. "Sure, alright..." his voice echoed before he walked out, I stood there, unable to tell whether that was the right call.
I leaned back against the wall as my eyes darted back to the row of prison doors which are currently empty, at the very end was prisoner 505.
Yesterday during the storm, the ANBU escorted a forbidden jutsu escapee, as a deal between the hidden leaf village and the hidden stone village, it was law to catch forbidden jutsu users and keep them within any shinobi law enforced prison until notified to bring them back to their village.
That was prisoner 505, a young long haired blonde who had his entire body cuffed due to the performance of the forbidden jutsu on himself. They dropped his personal information on the main police office table which they had obtained from for bingo book, it is required that for every dangerous shinobi, be it caught or free, it is required to gather their information in case of an escape or further study on the forbidden jutsu.
However, I haven't taken a peek at it.
The restrictions are quite strict as well, we are not allowed to communicate with the prisoner, food will only be given once a week as required in a sense of punishment. I think the correct term is that they believe people who are capable of stealing a forbidden jutsu are almost super shinobi themselves.
But this was not the case.
He looked younger than 20, very young. He was whimpering in pain, his chest movements so restricted that I thought he was dead. I'm not like the ANBU, I'm not heartless. I just wanted to help the poor boy.
My eyes wandered over to the time, it was around 9. I heard gates unlocking around me, the policemen on night duty are now in and regulars like me are allowed to go home. I looked back once more at the main door before grabbing a bowl and a bottle of water, I have 10 minutes before anyone notices I have gone to see the prisoner. I unlocked the door to the prison gates, the dark hallway only lit by a small light bulb, not lighting it up to the end. I moved quickly, my footsteps moved at a fast pace. I walked towards the end where I stopped, the gate right in front of me.
