I guess when your best friend asks to get lunch with a friend and she says no that your friend should be really mad. But mine wasn't, it was like, he was happy to miss lunch with her even though he invited her to have lunch with him. He said he wanted to sit with me instead, but who would wanna sit with me? So we just kinda ate, leftovers from who knows what day, just kinda sitting there for a minute until he started crying. He was sad because he felt like he screwed things up again and that he was a bad person for just trying to be distant but friendly. So I told him he wasn't, cause he's a good guy and he always tries to do what's best even if it doesn't look the best. He showed me some goofy videos cause I thought maybe they'd cheer him up a little, and they did. It was nice, having lunch with an actual friend every day, even though that friend happened to be a guy way older than me who I'd never know until almost two years ago. And he liked to tease me a lot and smile at me cause I always made him feel better for some reason. At night, it was just being with him, even though he has a choice of letting me sleep next to him. He always chooses me, over every other person he knows. It's weird how he makes me feel better, and I do the same to him, even though I don't really do much besides walk with him and hold his hand and give him advice sometimes. He says he wouldn't be around without me, and I get that, because I'd be dead without him too, just lifeless, floating, weak. So I guess lunches aren't like torture for him cause I'm there. He has so many people, but he comes to me, because apparently I'm the one who has the best empathy. Which I don't, but I guess what I say works cause he feels better and then I feel better. I guess that's how best friends work, and I'm really glad I have a friend like him. Even if he teases me about how I sleep with blankets over my neck and how my hair is in a nerd mullet.
